Willow is being sick....
« on: July 08, 2012, 12:59:26 AM »
Here we go again, it seems to be one thing after another with Willows health recently.  :'(

She was fine this morning and then at lunchtime she was really sick after being slightly quiet for approx 15 minutes before hand, just once but there was masses of it!! She then did a sloppier than usual poop and it was a caramel colour with a lot of mucus. We took her on her walk anyway as we were getting ready to go as she was sick, we decided not to let her off and we wanted to conserve her energy as she tum was then empty. She perked right up around the park and enjoyed her walk albeit all on the lead.

She was fine when we came home and she was looking for food as soon as we walked through the door.  I fed her a little bit of kibble and then boiled some rice and already had some cooked chicken. She had a small amount of this too. I gave her some pro kolin paste too.

I had to pop out this evening and OH gave her a small meal of chicken and rice at 9ish. He said she was sick twice tonight, again quiet before being sick and perking up once she was sick. She was full of life when I came home. She isnt dyhydrating as Ive checked her gums and only looks poorly just before she is sick. She has been sick again about 10 minutes ago.  :'(

I am hoping its just a bug and she will perk up tmw and the nausea cease, still worried as she is still on the steroid for her Meningitis and one of the side effects from the meds can be sickness and/or diarheoa although apart from once several weeks ago she hasnt been sick whilst on the meds, im sure if she was going to be ill due to the steroids she would of been ill by now wouldnt she?

She was sick this morning 3 hours after her steroids, they will have been in her system then though wouldnt they and not sicked back up? I did give her another half of a tab after she was sick to be on the safe side, did I do the right thing?

Any advice welcome, might be ANOTHER trip to the vets again tmw....  :'(

I'm so sorry that Willow's sick again :( Giving her an extra half a tablet will definitely do her no harm:) I doubt the steroids are causing this and after having been on them for a few weeks and now on a reduced dose I'm sure they won't be causing the problem. If she carries on vomiting today I would take her to the vet. Do you have one that has consulting hours on a sunday? Fingers crossed she has just eaten something funny and the nausea and vomiting will pass. Hugs to you and little Willow.

Hope you've had a quiet nite with Willow Maddy. If not I'd give your vet a call and just have a chat with them if for no other reason than to put your own mind at rest.   :bigarmhug:'s from here xx

Thanks everyone, can always rely on col for support.  ;)

No more sickness in the night  :D

A bright eyed and bushy tailed Willow woke me about 9ish, only taken her in the garden to play rather than a walk at the mo and she was full of life. She has had a normal poop  :D

Given her a very small amount of chicken and rice and here's keeping everything crossed....  :-\ :-\

Also only given her a third dosage of the steroids this morning, im thinking if she is sick there is scope for me to give her the rest without me worrying and if she isnt sick again even better to give her the rest of the dosage.  ;)

I will keep you all posted, my vets is open 10-2 on a sunday so I will review the situation at noon.  :D Pleased keep everything crossed for her that she isnt sick again and we dont have to call or visit the vet. She had to have an anti sickness jab once before and it was that that gave her her phobia of the vets  :'(

Her bum smells fine, just checked it out  :005: Oh the things we do for these doggies  :020: :rofl1: She looked at me horrified as I investigated  :005: :005:

She has been on the steroids for about 4 weeks now and not noticed the smell from her breath until now. I will keep my eye on her she is asleep at the minute.
