Booster vaccinations - not a happy little girl
« on: July 12, 2012, 02:45:33 PM »
Posie used to enjoy going to the vet because she loved the attention from the admin/reception staff, but when we went in for her booster injection this morning she was pulling on the wad to go in the opposite direction he moment we got out of the car. She then hugged the door, even when the nice staff made a fuss of her.

Once we were in with the vet she just about climbed inside my coat to get away from him, but to her credit she didn't make a sound and not once did she stop him checking her - not even checking her mouth or eyes.

Unfortunately, just when we really needed a good clean injection, she wriggled enough to slip from my arms as the needle broke the skin. This meant that she got jabbed quite hard and without the benefit of having the injection, so we had to try again.

All in all it wasn't a nice visit, though she did appreciate the free Dentastix that they gave her as we left. A half hour run around the park liked her spirit, even if it was in pouring rain.

Thank goodness nothing else is wrong with her and she shouldn't need to go back again any time soon. Fingers crossed.

Its awful when they get so jittery and upset.  The first time they checked Kali's ears I could hear her screaming and crying through the back :'(. I had to stay on the seat to stop myself running through to the back to get her!

I think it is more traumatic for us really! :005:

I took Missy for hers yesterday she doesnt mind at all. However when my Gran had a Golden we used to have to drag him in and pin him down when he went for anything.

Some hate it some dont mind.

Willow used to be fine at the vets until last September when we had to take her out of hours as she was being sick, they gave her an anti sickness injection that the vet said were the sorest injections for them to have. The first time she moved and they missed in getting it in although they did catch her skin. Then they had to do it again, she now hates going and cries in the waiting room and claws me to death when we get into the room to see the vet  >:(
