On Thursday last week we notice Rosie had blood flowing around her mouth at first we thought perhaps she has cut her gum after having a bone the day before and I know blood always looks worst in the mouth area due to saliva so we were not to worried.
Friday morning hubby got up to find pools of blood all over the kitchen floor and Rosie with red front legs and chest, still thinking that maybe it is related to a cut in her mouth or perhaps a broken tooth he took Rosie to our vets. On checking her mouth vet could not really see what was going on due to the amount of blood and had concerns that it was not clotting. On doing a test he was concerned that her platletts were on the low side and took bloods for sending for more intensive testing.
Rosie was given anti-biotic and steroid injections to help get her blood to clot, to say we were worried is an understatement, Rosie has been having some weird episodes which she had an MRI scan back in October but no underlying cause was found. At this point we do not know why her blood count is so low or how long it has been like it and to think that as it turned out to be a minor nick in her gum that has highlighted this problem.
Rosie in herself is fine maybe a little bit more tired that normal and is back to the vets in the morning for another check and hopefully her results so that we may know what we are dealing with fingers crossed it can be corrected
