Cooper's off to the vet today

Coop is off to the vet this morning I've had a niggly feeling about him for the past few days and just couldn't put my finger on it. Yesterday he seemed reluctant to jump onto his chair and he's no better this morning. His anal glands seem to be bothering him an awful lot and by late last night he was exuding that characteristic fishy smell. I was wondering if anybody has experienced anal glands causing pain in the hind limbs? I know its a long shot but I'm grasping at straws here Please keep fingers crossed that its not spinal/cruciates or a relapse of his IMPA.

Thanks so much His appointment is at 10.15 (I'm not sure if you're one or two hours behind our time at the moment). I am really worried about him although he is still bright, eating and super naughty To top it all off its like my animals know my exam timetable - my final exams start on Friday and Coop knows he's much more important than studying!

Here's hoping it is just his anal glands and he is back to his normal self after the V E T visit

We are back from the vet One of his anal glands was really distended and inflamed so he has had it expressed - stinky, stinky boy! The vet seemed to think that the reluctance to jump was stemming from the anal gland problems and they had a good look at his spine and joints as well. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the problem is sorted, although Coop is not known for having simple problems. When he was done with the vet Coop proceeded to buy himself (read as "demand") a packet of treats which he then sat shouting for in reception while I was paying! He certainly has no inhibitions...

If I'd had my anal glands "tampered" with I 'd want more than a packet of treats !!!

Glad it was nothing too serious.  Hope Cooper soon feels better and enjoyed his treats.

Thanks so much I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will sort his problem out He managed to gobble the rest of his bag of treats (only a 50g bag) in the car on the way home, between shrieking at birds he saw flying and yelling at anyone riding a bicycle. He's a law unto himself... This first exam is business,law and regulatory veterinary services. Certainly not the most interesting subject but somehow I need to get it in my head!

When you described his symptoms initially I did wonder whether it might be down to his anal glands - can only imagine that if my 'bottom' was feeling distended/pressured I too would be reluctant to jump or exert any significant pressure in that part of the body   

Hope that he has a straightforward recovery  - and that you will be able to cram some vital information in between now and Friday - Good Luck
