lump after tick removed
« on: August 02, 2012, 10:00:02 AM »
We keep finding ticks on Albert - we have a tick remover so remove them as soon as we notice them.  Last week we noticed a huge white tick on Albert's back left paw (have never seen one so big) so removed it.  Since then he has been licking his paws a lot, I kept looking at the paw which had the tick in it and couldn't see anything.  When I got in from work last night he must have been licking the paw again and I checked the paw over and he has a pink lump on it, it doesn't look infected so I bathed it in salt water and sprayed some antiseptic on it.  Is this the right thing to do or should I take him to the vets?  The strange thing is that he now keeps licking all his paws.

Have been reading about grass seeds aswell so am now a bit worried about them as on all the local walks there are seeds everywhere and on last nights walk he was covered in them (so bad that we had to bath him).  I have to say that I naively didn't even know that grass seeds were harmful (this is the first summer where the grass where we walk Albert hasn't been cut so the first summer that we've noticed them).  Should I be walking Albert on the roads instead at the moment until all these grass seeds have gone?  I am a bit worried that he has trodden on grass seeds now but can't see any in his paws

Hope this message makes sense!!  Thanks, Alison
