Having a bad day and feeling sorry for my self. Took Archie to vets to check his ear mites had gone and they have but left ear infection so got drops but he won't let me put them in. Normally fine with touching looking at ears( been doing a check since got him) but he is having none of it. Tried all his favourite treats nope. So now a feel really bad on top of everything I've got a chest infection and feel pretty poo myself, hubby is away and I've just had a cry on Archie. Sorry for my moans just one of those days :'(

The ear mites being gone is a step in the right direction :) Could you wait until he was asleep to do it?

Yep tried that normally he doesn't move for anything once his asleep but now on hyper alert. He just looks at me with his sad gorgeous eyes before hot footing it away. Knew it was going too easy.

Oh thats not fun. Hugs for you!

I wish i had some advice of how to get the ear drops in but im afraid i have none as im a puppyless person!

Just think things can only get better and im sure they will. My week has been awful so im sending you all my sympathy!

I would leave him until tomorrow, if you try more tonight he'll just get more upset.Don't think trying when he is asleep is the answer......he'll be on  the alert. Is there someone who could hold his head tomorrow

When we had to give Jem ear drops, my OH found that he could do it while she was busy eating her tea. I know how stressful it is when they don't like having the drops in but you know it has to be done :(

Do you put him up onto a table? If you can find something super tasty that he's not really had, it might help. I have used primula cheese quite a bit, it comes in a tube so is very easy to squeeze out when it's just yourself. It would be easier if there were two of you though, one at his front with the treats and the other doing the drops.

Brodie used to hate getting her ears done until she realised she got a bit of meat when I was finished - she practically jumped onto the table tonight :005:.

Sounds like you are really not yourself just now so don't let it stress you, it could just take him time to get used to having it done :bigarmhug:

As regards to pup's ears, if there is no other way, would it be possible to ask a friend to hold his attention with a treat to keep him occupied.

Sorry you are feeling poorly yourself......that all makes it harder.

I used to have to put ear drops in all the time for Lily....I don't know if this helps, but I had a pillow on the sofa...and I rested her head on in.  Held her against the pillow to do one side, then reversed.  It was just a support whilst I put the drops in.  It was like someone supporting her head for me.
