sticky buds!!!
« on: August 29, 2012, 09:10:17 PM »
Omg as some of you may know we have just moved house and the garden is a huge mess! We have got rid of the worst of it but the sticky buds are driving me insane. I've had to chop them out of darceys ears and legs as they're just too stuck to pull out. I've had to cut her ears quite short and I don't know what to do next. Every night I'm sitting for at least an hour pulling and snipping what can I do apart from stop her going in the garden?

What about putting a little bit of vaseline on the ends of her ears and on her legs (just a thought)  ;) x x x

We are plagued with the tiny sticky balls(no idea what they called) that get tangled in erin and tillies coat on a daily basis....the only thing we can do to get them out is spend ages with a wide tooth comb teasing them all out. Its a lot easier with Tilly as her hair is quite fine and straight but Erins is curly and woolly and is going to send me over the edge >:D

If you do find a trick to get them out, I'd love to know! It takes us forever, we brush the dogs and then just sit and pick them out. It is almost a hobby at this time of year!

It is the start of the sticky ball season, endless hours of fun  >:D getting them out of a coat after each outing.

We found  teasing them our with our fingers combined with a slicker brush worked best but they do need to be got out because if left they  become almost impossible to get out without cutting the hair.

We had it in the garden, so every time Charlie went out he was covered, we just pulled them out straight away. Then I pulled it all out of the garden, which resulted in sticky balls all over the garden....however after a day or so they were almost all gone.

ive never known a year so bad for them , Bailey my choccy boy is the worst his fur is just a magnet for them the other two arent so bad but its an hour of picking at least for him, can you not de weed a section of the garden free of them and keep him to that area for a bit

Find the weed, the are easy to pull up as they have a very short root system.

They do come out really easily, I pulled all of ours out 2 weeks ago, however you'll get covered too.

I think they're even harder to get out of wet fur. We call them sticky willies  :embarassed:

We call them snotty gogs, Woody is a magnet for them, I pick them out most evenings while he is curled up with me on the sofa, mind you I have missed some because they are not very comfortable when you roll on one in bed ph34r (not that he sleeps on my bed or anything.

Put some conditioner on and comb through with wide toothed comb., or tease out with fingers. Seems to take the sticky out of them, they come out a lot easier, with no chopping.
