Weight loss
« on: October 02, 2012, 11:07:14 PM »
Hello I'm hoping someone can re assure me really, since we've moved darcey has lost weight - she was never over weight and has always been around the 11kg mark. She found moving stressful and has taken a while to settle in, it's been 6 weeks and she's still a little jumpy at times. She's also getting more exercise as we have a garden and she does the wall of death at least 6-7 times a day. She's getting less treats and is eating the same is wormed and doesn't seem to be in any pain. Am I right to be putting this down to stress/more exercise or should I take a trip to the vets? I will if it carries on anyway I'd say she's prob the weight she was when we first got her 2 years ago when she was left in the garden for 12 hours a day.

We moved a year ago and Poppy was very stressed by it, she too lost weight and would not be left alone at all without howling bless her. I think she thought we were on holiday and was scared we would go back without her. She followed us from room to room constantly. It took about 3 months for her to settle down, but she did eventually. Her old familiar blankie and lots of walks around the neighbourhood helped. I found that the biggest problem was that I couldn't put her bed in the same place as it was before due to the layout of the new house, and this confused her somewhat. Does she still have the same bed etc as she had before? I'm sure you will find that she settles after lots of cuddles and reassurance, but if the weight loss continues much longer I would see what the vet has to say. Hope the unpacking is going well!
