Anyone for cheese!
« on: November 06, 2012, 10:15:27 PM »

Hi

Bought some tubes of cheese as to pacify my pup on Guyfawkes night after suggestions on this forum, not needed.

As a colleage said yesterday, working Cockers are immune to loud bangs. She was right as we took her into the garden with fireworks sounded everywhere and she never flinched

Anyone need some cheese :005:

Charlie does  >:D. It's too much effort to lick the cheese out (even when it's close to the end) - his lack of food obsession can be REALLY annoying at times...

I'm glad Miya was ok with the fireworks (me and Charlie had cuddles in the garden and watched our local display :)).
My beautiful little boy Charlie :)

Thanks guys

I'll give the Kong a go, bought it ages ago but never really used it. May well have been the £6 for squirty cheese as a Kong filler >:D I'm sure primula would do just the same ;)

Re Kongs,  I give Riley a stuffed frozen kong if Im having to leave him alone for a few hours. I know he works at it to get every last bit out and it tires him out and he forgets Ive gone out lol. I take it out the freezer about 30-45 mins before I have to go out, now when he sees the kong, he knows its wee wee time then he gets his kong in peace while mum goes out  :005:

I would not agree with your colleagues statement, I have seen a good few working pups ruined because their owners did not introduce them to gunfire the correct way. Its not hard to do it the right way but very hard to cure once you have a gun  shy dog.

Just as well she's a family pet without need to be concerned about being gun shy.

Hi Mel, it might not matter with a family pet but still applies to fireworks, and others who may want the pup to work may read this to be true.
