daftcockers:
We have only been showing our cocker Archie for about 8mths, so am still a novice, But I have had some wonderful advise from breeders in the breed. Two in particular have been wonderful and supportive, even though archie didnt come from their kennels.(dont know if I can name names on the site).
We had met some wonderful people not only from the cocker breed.
Up to now we have only come across one horrible person and unfortunatly she was a cocker person.
So I hope we have many more happy years of showing this wonderful bred (win or lose I take the best dog home)

P>S Good luck to everyone showing on Thursday

We haven't been quite so lucky......and that's only at ringcraft  ::) Think I'll be retiring Dallas before he even enters the ring. ;) Hope you continue to have fun showing Archie and maybe we will be seeing him at Crufts one day too :)

Inca:
Sorry to hear this Gill. Perhaps daftcockers and i are lucky to have such helpful people at ringcraft.
Have you thought that you might be seen as competition  ;) ;)

ROFL ;D Not blinkin likely. There aren't any other gundogs there so we are the only ones - no competition to anybody. I remember the first day I went with Vegas, the first thing I was asked before I even had time to park my bum was "who did his tail" and then "his colour doesn't do well in the ring". I very much doubt she even knew what his colour was so we lasted all of three weeks. Ventured back with Dallas a few weeks back and lasted all of 45 mins ;D I'm not sure if its feasible to go it alone with the help of a showing manual(got loads of those) but that's looking like the only option at the moment.

Mike:
I hope you do persevere Gill - I know you wanted to show Dallas, and you shouldnt let anyone put you off. It's perfectly easy for anyone to make throwaway comments - not even cocker specialists, as you say - but it takes a lot more courage to not take them personally and carry on regardless... I say go for it!  ;D
