Title: What nicknames do you have for your dog?
Post by: AmberJasper on June 16, 2008, 03:53:43 PM
Hi everyone,

I was just wondering what other names you call your dog(s) other than their proper names? My mum once called Jasper "Jazzypants" which i occasionally call him since  :005: then there is "puppachups" which is the usual affectionate name i call him....

...ok, now for the less affectionate names  :005: ... "dumbass" when he is clumsy (that will be most of the time then  ::) ) and "numbnuts" but the latter has seemed a bit cruel since he was castrated  :005:

Just wondered what you all call your little horrors?  :005:

Mooch Pooch, Fredster, poopie puppy, booti boy, wiggy bumbum, honey (use this one when addressing either Dog or OH saves the embarrasment of getting the name wrong ph34r ph34r) - all when he in the good books but tbh more often than not he gets called 'hell Hound' or 'numbnutts' or as OH calls him-your dog!!!!!!

Funnily enough the list of random names grows on an almost daily basis and he always knows when it is him i am talking too/about.

Molly's official 'name' is Molificent Beelzebub! >:D Molificent after Malificent in the sleeping beauty film by Disney, and Beelzebub for many many reason, mainly running away and refusing to listen to any commands, like 'Come here', 'look what I've got...a treat' and ' for god's sake come here or you are going to be rehomed!" >:D >:D >:D >:D >:D :005:

Really she is supposed to be Moll Flanders but never gets called that. Mols is most common. :shades:

Someone called her Molly ringwald ( after another Ginger- his words) ::)

Lottie gets GrotGrot (this came from Lottie to Grottie to GrotGrot) she now answers to this more than Lottie, not the prettiest nickname but it does suit her cos she is quite a grotty little madam. >:D

Jess has gone from Jessiepoo to poopoo and her latest is moomoo, which I am currently shortening to moo as she does have the look of a cow (being black and white). :005:

Their nicknames sound really evil but I do love em both loads  :luv: :luv:- honest.

William gets called Willie Wumpkins (which was the name of a racehorse many years ago), Little Willy and Willy by family and friends.

You get some pretty strange looks from people when you're stood in the middle of the New Forest shouting out Willy when he's disappeared after rabbits!

don't know if I've posted this before - but each year we go to the same resort for a holiday in October - and at some point, we go to a really nice pizza place, where they bring you crayons to draw on the paper tablecloth (no, we don't have kids).  The last two years, we've used our waiting time to write down all of Paddy's alternative names.  Year one, when we'd had Paddy for ten months, he'd got over 50 names (including Paddy).  Last October, the list had increased to over 70 names, about 60 of which originate from my husband e.g. Dog of Doom, Sir Padmond Paw, PawTUS (the Paw equivalent of POTUS - President of the United States) - hence "PawTUS on board" for when Pads has been collected from the petsitter.

His favourite American Football team is the New England Pawtriots, his favourite players are Clinton Pawtis (OH is a BIG American football fan) and Pawton Manning.

Paddy is, as the Victorians would have put it, a "Dog of Parts".  We, however, appear to be going insane to casual observers.....

I have always had nicknames for my dogs and used then often. I found that if I was out on a walk and someone had a dog with the same name as mine I was allways able to overide the dogs urge to run to that owner who called their name by calling them to me with their nickname. My dogs have just got their nicknames by chance. Sally a gsd was called fatsoo ( as when she was a puppy she looked like a barrel on legs) Coco's was pudding ( i have no idea how he got that ) Tara's is ta ( which is what the parrot calls her ) and lastly Daisy's is day or daisydo ( i'm sure as time goes by she will get another nickname but as we have only had her 3 months we havnt used anything yet )
I will always give my dogs nicknames and they help to keep them safe when we are out and i want them to come back and not other peoples dogs with the same name.
Although if it was a gsd or a cocker spaniel i might just have to take them home as well lol :005:

Monty is most often Moodles or just Mont, Muppet Dog is an old favourite too.

OH calls him Retard and he answers to it.  I've been trying to teach him to bite on the command of 'retard' but so far it's failing miserably!!!!  :005: (only joking)
