Title: Do you have a nickname for your dog?
Post by: Noodle on January 18, 2010, 01:14:11 PM
Do not laugh but I call Tess 'Boo Boo'  (as in yogi bears best friend Boo Boo bear)

I also do this in a yogi bear accent "hey Boo Boo" although I do try to do this in the privacy of my own home.

Am I alone or do any of you lot have nicknames for yours, if so what are they?

Harley is called rabbit by my youngest daughter because she thought he looked like a bunny when we first got him.

Rio is called 'Street Boy' because when the foster carer brought him to us she told us that he used to escape from his previous home and take himself for a walk  ph34r  OH says he is very streetwise,  he taught Harley all sorts of norty stuff like stealing food from the work surface in the kitchen by opening the oven door and using it as a step up ( we have since replaced the weak hinges so have put an end to that little trick  :005:)

They have lots, I have this thing about rhyming words with the dogs' names so most of their nicknames are based around that. Worst of it is I do it with other people's dogs that I see a lot too ph34r

Rodaidh's main nickname is Dodie, in fact a lot of folk call him that rather than Rodaidh. So he gets Dodie, Rodaidh Dodie, Rodaidh Dodie Doo Dah, or Ro, RoRo, DoDo or FloJo :lol2:

Tilly's are Tills, Tillydog, SillyBillyTilly or Tilly Tilly Baddog said in a stupid singsong voice, cos she is :shades: and when she's not so good she's Bratdog.

Caoimhe's is Weevil, because it rhymes with her name and because she is one :005: I call her my little Weevil Baby :luv: or if she's just chewed another pair of knickers she's the Evil Weevil.

My Mum has different nicknames for all 3 of them though, Rodaidh is Rodaidhdendron or 'boy in the world' (short for 'bestest boy in the world' apparently :005:), Caoimhe is Diva (it rhymes!) and Tilly is Galaxy Girl.

Collectively they get called The Monsters or Monsterdogs and I also call all of them my little chicken noodle sometimes, I really don't know why :005:

Remy is Rem, Rems, Rem de Roo, Remdy,  Rug  (for the amount of time she spends flat out on her back in the middle of the room)  ::)  But  99% of the time she gets called Roo. I can't tell you what she gets called if she goes cat poo eating ph34r

Jade really only gets called Jade or pups although we are desperatly trying to stop calling her pups or we will be still calling her that when she is an OAP.

Only for when we don't them responding to their real name.

Alice is "leggy blonde", because she is.  And Judi is "furry slug", on account of how she looks when she's curled up asleep.  She's a bit less slug-like these days, now she's a bit slimmer, but the name's stuck.

Skye is only 5 months and so far is known as skybabe, or pupster, but can see another name developing soon as she becomes woolier and woolier and cheekier and cheekier :luv:

Millie is Milly Moo, or if she is in scary reactive mode she gets called silly milly moo.  Also The Millster.

Jock the Westie is Jockles, or when he is being particularly stubborn he gets his full title of Jock Hamish McDuff (the name is bigger than the dog! - named by my son who was 9 at the time) :005:

Paddy and Murphy have been called all different things over the years, we used to call them 1 and 2 for some reason (cant remember why).  Paddy is sometimes called pigskin because he's got a fat pink belly like a pig.  Murphy is now called Shmoo or Shmooie and this has really stuck. We call it him all the time (probably more than we call him murphy). It started when he had his hair cut really short and was very "smooth ie, shmoove".  Paddy is therefore called Shmoobrova (as in shmooies brother). Completely mad but even family are starting to ask after schmooie!

I always thought we were a bit mad but judging by this thread its obviously completely normal!

Holly was bought for me when I retired, but she is a daddy's girl and he just can't

I sometimes call Sam 'tiddly winks' (don't know why), but sometimes an other name
which isn't really politically correct, so can't say it on here... but I'm sure you can guess.
