She's right up your street Mark --- its a pity you can't foster her at least to help set her on the right way ::) Lets face it 4 is better than 3, its a sort of balanced amount  ;)

Just had words again and once again there is no budging the OH.
She says she is not the type of person who could foster and let her go and she does not want another dog full time either.
Feel I am banging my head against a brick wall. >:D

Looks like you're going to have an extra guest for Christmas, Penny.  ::)  Why on earth has no-one snapped Meg up?  Everyone who's met her says she's lovely.  :luv:  I know I'd rather have a cocker rescue from you with a (probably over scrupulous) run down of the pros and cons than one from a rescue which really hasn't had the time or facilities to assess every aspect of her behaviour in the home.  :-* Anyway, how's she getting on? And is the house feeling a bit crowded with three dogs, four cats and a very tall person?  :005: :005:

She's doing great and is coming along in leaps and bounds (she learns quickly but then she loves her food :005:) --- does get a bit crowded though when four cats and three dogs try to take over the sofa ::) ::)

Its great to see her out running around as she really is in her element. I might try her out at an agility session up at the farm soon

I would love to take Meg, but my OH has said NO. I can't believe him, he was all for us getting Harry a few months ago, but now says one is enough. She is adorable.

Merry Christmas, Meg.   :luv: :luv: You are such a dear.   I know you are a lucky girl to be with Penny instead of being locked up in a cold lonely place. But I hope Santa brings you a new, loving home for the New Year.  You deserve one.

love from Annie, Millie and Cassie  :-* :-*

A friend who's a dog trainer saw her at the weekend and felt that a quiet home would suit her best and may be with an older established dog. Seems my home is too busy for her, even though I live on my own its the other residents that make it so busy and stressful for her ::).

Just to add to Meg's insecurity list: on top of being scared of clickers no matter how muffled you do them she's scared of the gundog whistle as well

Keep going Penny!
As you know, our Peggy used to violently shake from fear just being out under the sky (puppy farm kept in a shed for 4 years), but look at her now!  :luv:Slowly, slowly she'll start to change.....
Well done for all your hard work with her! Her new owners when they come, will benefit from all you've done!!

she's not a wallflower by any means though its just that certain things she's petrified of, and sadly the things that could help her with her other training (especially as she's so stubborn)

Things could be worse Penny, I went to try and help one of the NESSR fosterers the day before yesterday and she has a springer there who cannot cope at all outside her driveway and he is 5 bless him.
He circles and hides between your legs and is just not able to cope at all.
He needs a very special home with someone very dedicated.

That is such good news.  Really hope it goes well.  Meg deserves a break after all the lousy things that have happened to her in the past.  And I daresay you could do with a break, too, from all the lousy things three cockers and four felines have done to you over the past few weeks?  :005: :005: :-*
