Nor did I until the paper was advertising a DVD with tips on how to make less waste and one of them was to flush dog poo, Mum knew you couldn't and got on to the water board who got onto the makers of the DVD (the council) and got it stopped.

The levels are not so high as to cause alarm it's just if people advocate doing it more and more waste will get into the system and therefore the level will grow. During chlorination of the water the bacteria don't all die. We always use a water filter (distillation membrane filter) to be sure.

Campylobacteriosis

Which I have had this year and can honestly say it gave me  the most excruciating pain i have ever experienced in my life!  So please don't flush !

We lift the lid on the foul water manhole in our garden, chuck the days dumps in and flush it away with half a bucket of rain water from the water butt.

This equates to flushing it which you shouldn't do as the water treatment plants which then brings this water back to our homes for drinking cannot get rid of the following diseases/bacteria which are present in the dog poo:

Cryptosporidium
Campylobacteriosis
Salmonella

We only use the sewer manhole which after treatment is discharged to the severn estuary, treated water from sewage treatment is not returned to homes as drinking water.

Cryptosporidium, Campylobacteriosis, Salmonella are bacteria that are also present in human waste.

After a quick search I am unable to find any guidance from our local water authority with regard to flushing dog poo via the sewer.
I would not flush the stuff down a storm or grey water drain.

Bagging & binning is an option but then it goes to landfill and will eventually leach into and contaminate the local water table which is a source of drinking water.

Dog poo composters are not really viable for more than one dog so that just leaves incineration.

We have a small kids waste bucket with lid in the garden with a carrier bag in it.  We poop-a-scoop into that and tie and bin or take to the doggy pooh bins when it gets about 1/2 full.

Ditto - works well for us, and we have a council doggy bin just round the corner.
Children grow up and don't want cuddles, but dogs are puppies for life.

I put it in a pooh bag and then it goes in the wheelie bin. Presumed that everyone did the same  :embarassed:

...thats what I do  ;)

same here ;)

This is what we do but i know some councils dont allow it to be put in wheelie bins.  Although how they would know....

ditto again

Urhm, we leave it where it lands  ph34r  Griffin does polite little poos that are nice and white and crumbly after a day and tehn they dissapear.
Coco's poos are polite little ones too so I usually chuck them in the hedge or into the field and they disappear after a day or two.  If I have a glut of poo with visiting dogs etc I bag and bin it.  ;)

...bag and bin it here too - when she does it in the garden, which is not very often tbh, she is another polite one like that  :D

However, I also have 4 indoor cats, with litter trays that are changed/emptied twice a day using supermarket bags, which also then go in the bin.  There is usually enough to fill a good 1 to 2 dustbins by the end of the week - my dustbin man doesnt talk to me, and if hes around when I am, I hide.....  ph34r....
