Working Cockers - Male or Female?
« on: August 08, 2008, 08:57:58 PM »
I may be wrong here, but across the forum a lot of the workers on here are male?! Is there a reason for that?

In cockers, what gender do people like best? Pros and cons of each? We've only ever had females, and we've never had a cocker before, and now I've got the choice (if I ever do get one, fingers crossed) I don't know which one to go for.  :005:

got a boy worker here, apart from my horse all my animals ive had since forever ranging from hamsters to cats and Quincy have all been boys, although i have heard boys are more affectionate but got no actual proof of that mind so no girly owners tell me off for that  :lol2:

My little angel, sent to me in my time of need, i love you with every piece of my broken heart xx
My beautiful boy xx

Honey's only 3/4 worker, but she's a girl!!!  ;)
My preference was for a girl - mainly cos of the scent marking stuff - also girls tend to be slightly smaller (on average).  Also, I'd always grown up with girl dogs...

That said, there are definately a lot of boys out there - last New Forest meet there were only 2 girly dogs with about a dozen of us altogether!!!

I have 3 working cockers, two boys and a girl. Generally I have to say I do prefer boys and I would love my next worker to be another boy but in the interests of balance it'll more than likely be a bitch I go for. Tilly is fantastic though, she's by far the smartest and minxiest of my 3, she's too clever for her own good and is most people's favourite because she's incredibly loving and playful with everyone whereas the boys are more Mummy's boys and tend to stick to me like glue.

I love Tilly  :luv:....I really really do but if I am honest my favourite of yours is Alfie......purely because he reminds me of a certain someone.

I have one of each....both are great dogs for different reasons. Sally is a very good girl and my little angel  ...Glen is ALL personality, the cheekiest little man ever and a pure chancer  :luv: :luv:

I would happily have either sex again  :D
