I know a Dobermann called Daphne!
I used to go out with her.  :005:

Why am I not surprised  :005: :005:

I love my dogs.  They make it worth getting out of bed in the morning.

I don't think Willy or Dick would be a good idea......

But what about Our Willy the pug on Eastenders?  :005: :005:

My William gets called Little Willy sometimes :005:, but only at home, not in public!

Lots of people call their dogs (and cats) - Sally (my name), Lucy (my sister's name)  - which used to drive me bananas when I was little.

I really don't like Lucy as a dog name ph34r and i have a sister called Lucie ::) i should have changed littleratdog's name when i got her really, but i didn't want to confuse her. ::) (turned out she didn't know her name anyway, but nevermind!)
Owned by Jarvis (Cocker), and Lucy (Cavalier).

I had a cat called Brian, which really suited him beccause he was a bit cross eyed and rather slow in his actions, and the name just sounds a bit dopey on a cat (no offence to anyone with Brians in the family - I have a lovely uncle Brian!!)

It was just a bit embarressing the first time I took him to the vet and found out our local vet was called.... Brian!

Apparently I was going to be called Shona or Tommy, but there was a dog along the road called Shona, so I became Fiona instead. Nice to know my parents thought enough of me not to name me after a dog! :005:

I have all human names for my dogs ....

Sebastian who gets shortened to Sebbie or Seb and when he has been clipped he gets nicknamed shawn  ;) ;)
Douglas who gets shortened to Doug or Dougster - I do get some funny looks when I'm shouting Doug though  ;)
Marvin who gets shortened to Marv or Marvellous or Mad Marv and people do think this is a strange name to call a dog but I love it and it suits him to a tee !!
Oliver who gets called Oliv or Ol or Olly

I have a friend who has a Basset called Basil, a cocker called Parsley another one called Sage and a little girl one called Rosie  ;) ;)

I personally love human names for my dogs.

There was a famous Geoffrey in the Cocker world - Bitcon Troubador ..... I think all names can work !!!

I had a cat called Brian,
Our cat's name is Keith.  People think that's funny but I don't know why.  He's 17 or 18 now and suits it.

I like the Daphne Dobermann story.

Only Daphne I've known was an American cocker and she suited it (sweet old fashioned lady).

I think probably a quite amusing name would be Doug (in Scotland pronounced Dug) (which is also how some pronounce Dog) ;)

I have Scottish friends who called their dog Dougie the Doggie! Suits him VERY well!!

I have really enjoyed reading all your answers, and it has had me thinking. The only name for me that suits my hooman friend, but seems to jar for a dog is Tracy!Although I am prone to mind change at the drop of a hat.

I also had two silver fox dwarf rabbits called Bunny and Clyde and our tortoise is called Jake but was named by his first owner 50 or so years ago!

On a slight tangent......

I had a rat I called Atooi - "this is my rat, Atooi"  (Ratatooi food type thing.....)

2 deformed goldfish.  One was called Dolly Dolphin by my sister cos she had a dolphin shaped face (the fish, not my sister).  Mine had a little cyst growing on it's nose so was called.................  Bogie.................   ph34r

When doing work experience at a vets, a lady brought her dog in, a lovely tricoloured mongrel, called Blob.....  It really suited him

To briefly continue in the 'off tangent' mode.
I had two goldfish many years back and I had no idea what sex they were, so I called them 'AC' & 'DC'  ph34r

They're not exactly human names I know, but are not exactly names that you would want to be calling over fields nonetheless  :shades:
