Broody!!!!
« on: October 02, 2010, 10:42:50 PM »
I have to say I am thinking about expanding my family (4 legged type) and as I have 2 big dogs and Woody I feel the gap is of a Cocker size :luv: Woody is a working type and is taken to training and also agility and has a huge garden and walkies in the wood which backs on to my garden so he is more than content iyswim, now I was wondering if a show type would fit in as I would love to get into the showing scene, but would running like a loony (obviously once past the puppy hood growth stage) in undergrowth (you try telling Woody he can't get through the most dense brambles :005:) be ok, it goes with out saying that these walkie sessions are supervised also Woody is a robust fella and can give as good as he gets with the 2 big dogs. Next I would dearly love a lemon or orange roan but cant get my head around all of the colour and genetics thing so what would the sire and dam have to be to have this colour pup. I am at home all day so having a pup is not an issue and I have reared Ozzy and Woody from 8 weeks and have all the puppy paraphernalia, gates, crates, carrier for those crucial pre injection socialisation outings and a puppy pen, just need to reserch and find my special boy.

Oh I wish you lots of luck with your search.

I have an orange boy, and he is an absolute delight.  I don't think there is a single colour of cocker, however, that I don't like........they are all so special and different in their own way.

Look forward to seeing the pickies.......... :luv:

I'm pretty new to the whole showing thing myself but I don't think you can show a lemon?  I think that might just be a working colour?  (could be totally off here but...)  I love orange roans.  I feel I have the best of all as Saffy is a blue roan & tan as she has orange roan face and legs :005:
I worried about the 'show coat' too as we are happy hikers and spend most our weekends on moors or hills and our lot bring most of it home.  I use a de-tangler spray and a wide tooth comb to take out most of the debrie but it's been the teeny tiny burrs from a plant in my garden which causes the most damage.  When you groom for show you need to probably 'tidy' at least once a week to keep it from getting un-managable but I think that's fine as you never need to spend hours doing it.  Saff loves the grooming table as it's directly in a sunbeam so she usually snores her way through sessions!!
There is a puddle on the floor,
tis there for all to see,
now is this puddle H20,
or is this K9 pee?

I loves grooming my dogs not that wiggly Woody likes to stay still for very long :005: I didn't know that lemons couldn't be shown, shows how much I have to learn
