I hope you are bearing up, I can relate to your loss. We had to have our 12 year old, Monty, put down 2 weeks ago. He had recently enjoyed a weekend in the lakes, too. We are keeping going thinking about getting our new puppy this weekend. Take care.

Oh god I'm so sorry 

We lost Pepper to cancer of the pelvis. On a walk he squeezed under a stile and screamed out and went lame behind. The vet examined him and said she thought he'd injured the cruciate ligament as it was swollen and painful, we didn't have x rays as he was old and with other health problems we didn't want him to have the anaesthetic. He didn't seem to be in much pain (he was on metacam though) and the vet said to be strict with his diet as he was slightly over weight. But he was always a fussy eater and luckily me and Mum must have known there was more to it because we did spoil him  . Then a couple of weeks later he just started crying constantly and we whipped him to the vets knowing it was likely to be the end  . he had x rays which revealed the cancer  .

It's so sudden and such a shock. But as others have said he had a wonderful full life with you
