Title: Puppy Weight
Post by: Daisydoo on January 07, 2004, 10:28:00 PM
My pup Daisy is 13 weeks old and gorgeous - we started a bit keen with walking her too much I thought, so now only take her out for about 10 mins 2/3 times a day - since then in the last couple of weeks she has put on weight and now weighs approx 14lbs....she looks ok but I think a bit chubbier and I wondered if anyone could advise me on what weight she should be during the first 3/6 months....
Thanks   :?

I have 2 cockers one of which is now 10.2 kg at 7 months old. I think as long as the puppy is gaining weight I wouldn't worry too much. I have a petit cocker who will only be about 10 kg at her final adult weight. I got mine weighed quite regularly at the vets (also a good way to soicalize them at the vets which is very important for the future). Everyone on COL has different experiences with weights in puppies so there isn't really an exact figure.

I think both of mine were only about 5 kg at 13 weeks!

Hi Tanya

I would agree with Penny and would said that Daisy is fine re body weight, she is only a puppy so I wouldn't worry to much about weight and when she is older and is out walking she will burn off any excess

Hi, Tanya.

My pup jess is 21 weeks (golden cocker) and weighs 10.8kg.  She'll do anything for an extra chicken wing

How can you deny those cute little peepers

She sounds good and healthy to me
Best wishes

Linda
