Green eyes
« on: August 05, 2013, 10:53:00 AM »
I met a family out walking there working cocker, it had similar markings to a blue roan but in brown and white. But it had the loveliest green eyes, I have never seen a cocker with green eyes before, is it not common or could this dog be x with something else? This dog was just under 2 yrs old

Yes its very common in liver roan / chocolate roan to have green or amber eyes.
Most of them I have seen do have these eyes.

Brodie had greenish eyes as a pup and they have now turned a dark amber - she's a liver roan show type

Rowan too, green as a pup now on the change to amber/darker amber. There is a lovely close up of a pup called Henry (at 19 weeks) on the puppy photo board just now that shows the chocolate green-amber combination perfectly.

Eyes usually continue to darken and turn brown/amber from green in liver/liver roan cockers as they age.

I've not seen any over the age of four with green eyes  ;)

Aw Beeboo, your dog's eyes are gorgeous, and his fur  :luv:!

Red/gold cockers can have green or amber eyes too - Sherlock's are quite light still at 2 yrs old:

Minstrel's (chocroan) eyes are blue at the moment, but this sounds like they will change with age?

I took some pics the other day of four week old pups (liver roans - and no, I'm not getting one :005:) and they all had beautiful blue eyes :luv:. Tried to load one of them to show you but my Internet connection is acting up... I imagine they will change just the same as the green eyes do :luv:

It was hard as they are very, very cute, I just make myself remember how hard work Brodie was as a pup - think she put me off them for life :lol2:. Plus I don't think she'd be too pleased to find herself with a little sister/brother :P
