Is there a list???
« on: July 07, 2007, 10:28:01 AM »
Hiya,
i was just wondering if there was a list available to the general public with dogs who are Opigen tested? I just thought there may be people like me who may be interested to see stud dogs or breeders who are using 'A' tested Lines.
If not i would be more than willing to publish one, FREE TO USE and FREE TO PLACE YOUR DOGS ON. So FREE all the way really  :005:
What do you think?

Hiya,
i eventually found that site but, you have to pay to be listed i know it's for a good cause but many won't want to.
Is there not one here in the UK?

I've just been looking for it, but had no luck. ;)
If you look through the year book, if dogs are health tested, it is usually stated there. But obviously it won't be as updated as websites.

Maybe I dreamt it    I was sure she was setting one up because I was going to put Disney & Aspen on it then decided against it. Wonder what I'm thinking of then

If I am correct Sandy still has it on her website, I found it the other day but I'll be darned if I can find it now. I found it originally via a google search on one of the listed dogs. Will let you know if I find it.

The cocker spaniel club issue a welfare report every year which has details of dogs Optigen tested for PRA.
It also has lists of dogs tested under the KC/BVA scheme and also details of dogs hip scored.

There is a danger in personal lists of Optigen results unless you are willing to check that those submitting their results are telling the truth by asking to see copies of their Optigen certificates. This is what happens with the Cocker Club Welfare booklet and presumably with some of the other online lists on personal websites. I'm not in favour of online lists of genetic results really unless they're under the control of a kennel club or national breed club so I wouldn't contribute to another online list, sorry ;)  In the future, it will be easier as the KC will incorporate Optigen results into the registration system as they have recently done with Labradors & Miniature Poodles. Are you a member of the Cocker Club, Peta? If not, why not join? You'd have access to all the info you need then

Edited to add a link to a European list of Optigen results : http://www.caras-cocker.de/dna_2.htm
