pepper won't let other dogs near me!!

Pepper is about 7 months and has started being aggressive to dogs who approach me. i don't know if he is jealous or protecting me but he is normally so friendly. today he was growling and barking at my friend's dog when we took them out togeather and I don't quite know what to do... any thoughts?

He's becoming a teenager, pushing boundaries and I expect the testosterone is starting to kick in.
