Well I've just dropped my two off at a new groomers :-\
I took 2 A4 pics with me, was - I think - very clear about what I wanted and more importantly what I didnt want. The groomers are going to ring me in 4 ish hours when they are ready to collect ph34r ph34r
I'm as nervous as when Daisy went in to be spayed ph34r
What if they make a complete Horlicks of it and I hate it :o ::) :o
This is going to be one looooooong afternoon ph34r :005: :005:
-
We'll I'm slightly naughty I book myself in for a massage and pamper when Snoopy goes to the groomer..... don't tell OH he doesn't know about that part added onto the bill :005: :005: :005:
However, slight problem with the last time thought Snoopy went Groomer, as she knows I've started to show Snoopy she thought it would be a good idea if I stayed and watched her groom and prepare him (2 hours) he looked fantastic and I had missed out on my massage.... OH did comment on how cheap groomer was this time :005:
-
Hope all goes well Sarah and they don't come out a la Vegas & Dallas ph34r :005: :005:
-
ooooooooooooooooh scary
-
Fingers crossed they do a good job! Poor old Dallas and Vegas, I hope their fur is growing back... ph34r
I used to get so nervous taking Bella to the groomer's, don't have that these days as I do her myself (poor Bella!).
-
Roll on 4 o'clock!
I have all this to come! Neville hasn't been yet.
-
Just had a call to say they are ready - do you think 2 hours earlier than planned is good news or bad :o :o
Wish me luck!!!!!!!!
-
I'd see it as a good sign ;)
-
Good luck and let us see the pics ;)
-
Well the Rangers are back - and..............................................
the groomers have done just what I asked them to do YYAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!
They look a bit 'manicured' at the moment - but I'm sure a quick swim in the manky duck pond this evening will sort that out  :luv:
The only bit I dont like - and its my fault - they have tidied up Daisy's top knot - I forgot to ask them to leave it alone ph34r ph34r
Anyway - as soon as they wake up (they've had a very busy day cos they went swimming before the trip to the beauty parlour :shades: ) I'll get some pics ;)
-
Great news - I#'m glad you got what you wanted ;)
I know what you mean about the top-knot, I miss Molo's when its gone - but don't worry, it soon comes back ;)
-
Glad it was a positive experience for all concerned ;)
-
bluddy 'ell - you mentioned liking the top knot tufty bit in a thread that ms penel has posted in....d'ya reckon 'penel scissorhands' called the groomer and thus daisy has lost her aforementioned hairy accessory >:D >:D >:D
:rofl1: (getting me own back after the you-know-what-photo incident ;))
can't wait to see the 'after' pics
i sooooo wish i could see some 'during' photo's...i reckon daisy would have been throwing the groomer FILTHY looks :005: :005: :005: :005:
-

(they look fab, not tooo over done. dillbert actually looks even more handsome ;), love how dais won't show her face :005:)

They look gorgeous - exactlly like how I would wan tmy Dillbert (yep I call him that too ) done if I wanted a change from the hairy bear look!!
Really nice, and pics are so not crud!!

Ahh, they both look lovely. :luv: I think they did a really good job. :D

Looovely!! :luv: :luv: They look great! Soooo pleased it went well....phew!!
You and Helen have got some kind of top knot fixation!!!!!! ENOUGH already!!!!!!!!! :005: Minus a top knot is gooooooooood!!!! You can see their bootiful domed heads then :luv:
-

Sorry, Choccydrop, but I'm here now! Milo's topknot is fab at the moment - seems to have been bleached slightly by the sun so is a few shades lighter than the rest of him!! :005: :005: :005: (Penel was most unimpressed at Wag 'n Bone! :P) Look, Penel and Lisa, he's got no mats and is otherwise well groomed, so leave me the pleasure of the top knot! :shades: Mikey's been clipped but my workmates say if I keep him and maintain him clipped, his top knot's got to be allowed to grow like Milo's. ph34r :005:
-
oh. my. god.
sarah, call the police :police:

Not any more - the dirty little gits found a rotting trout on this afternoons walk and rolled in it >:( >:( >:(
-
They look gorgeous - exactlly like how I would wan tmy Dillbert (yep I call him that too ) done if I wanted a change from the hairy bear look!!
TBH Petra I too prefer the hairy bear look but as my housekeeping skills are limited ph34r it was getting ridiculous. They swim on every walk and then get covered in dust when they are wet, then bring it all home with them >:D >:D >:D. There is so much dust in our house that OH asked me the other day if we'd suffered a volcano whilst he was out ph34r :005: :005:
-
They look great :D Dill reminds me of someone......now who could it be?...... ;)
I have no idea........................................... :shades: :005: :005:
-
You and Helen have got some kind of top knot fixation!!!!!!
We do indeed and for very good reason - top knots is fab :shades:
You can see their bootiful domed heads then :luv:
Agreed if they have a beautiful head but Daisy looks like she stood up too quickly under the coffee table :005: :005: Dill looks fab without his top knot - he has a beautiful bonce :luv:

Cockers aren't sposed to have topknots - case closed :shades:

then someone tell evolution to get a hurry up and stop the hair growing naturally there..... :rofl1:
-
Hattie hasn't got one :D perhaps yours are over-evolved ;)
-
oooh nooooo penel - jarvis is obviously neanderthal with his tuftiness....
her hattiness is clearly 'the way forward' in genetically engineering tuftless cockers....shame she's had the snip :rofl1: :rofl1: :rofl1:

EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :005: :005:
Exactly exactly exactamundo. OH wants silly top knot. Luckily, he doesn't know that the Coat King will hopefully prevent that from ever happening - yee haaah.
And while we're on the topic of crimes against cockers, I believe that there are people on here whom I respect and trust who ....CUT OFF THEIR DOGS' LONG EYELASHES.
Hard to believe, but true. Own up so we can (well I can) berate you in the appropriate manner.

Eyelashes and whiskers all have to go in this house ph34r
-
Oh no, topknots are the best :luv: My sister came to visit on Sunday and we had great fun spiking Dill's tuft (what little there is of it...), giving him a side parting, and generally messing about... (poor Dill :005:)
Am going to let it grow a bit, just to see how it looks :luv:
We sometimes meet a gorgeous golden cocker on our walks, Scrumpy, and his topknot is huge - a real tuft, absolutely gorgeous :luv:
-
Ah, the old topknot debate. I agonised for ages over having Jimmy's removed, it eventually got taken out when he was 18 months old - once gone it took me a while to get used to but now I wonder what I was ever thinking - how could I have possibly thought it looked good ? ph34r
I mean, come on - which looks better ?
This...

Or this ? ...

Eyelashes and whiskers all have to go in this house ph34r
Yep, they can go too. I reckon they look quite cute on a pup but just plain daft on an an adult Cocker - a nice sleak, smooth face looks much better, in my opinion.
Topknots, eyelashes and whiskers RAUS !
-
 at Colin's pictures of Jimmy (well the top one!!)
I think you are using photography to your advantage there!! Come on, you have much nicer pictures of Jimmy's topknot than that!!!
-
Jimmy with a top-knot reminds me of Rod Stewart during his 'Do ya think I'm sexy?' era :005: :005: :005: :005:
ph34r Sorry Jimmy - still think you're gorgeous :-* :-* :-*
-
yawn....in the words of kath'n'kim 'give it a bone....'
i can sooooo see the similarity between jimmys show cocker top knot and jarv's wispy working cocker quiff.....gosh i am running to the coat king as we speak......!
maybe for you show cocker owners it can be an issue but for goodness sake...it's only a bit of hair (and a tiny bit in jarv's case...)is it reeeeeeally that important that i hand strip his head? really? or can i go back to carefully stuffing mushrooms (life's far too short for THAT too ;))
(sorry to hijack the thread sarahp )
-
:wasntme: I am in favour of Jarv's top knot!!! (and top knots in general I hasten to add!!!!)
But consider myself suitably told off ;), and also apologize to Sarah P for taking the thread into a different direction.
-
Ooops, apologies if I annoyed you Helen - I thought everyone was just having a bit of a joke here. ph34r
Of course you should keep the topknot if you like it, same goes for anyone that likes eyelashes or whiskers. I hope it doesn't sound snobby when some of us say we prefer these things removed - we all just have different opinions on how we like our Cockers groomed - it's not like there's any rules.
I know some people like the topknot as they think it gives the dog a more natural scampy look. In Jimmy's case I had his removed for the opposite reason - his back was non-trim, really short and also dark red, whereas his topknot was long, bushy and bright blonde - people kept asking me if I shaved his back and dyed his hair ! :o They though I was deliberately coiffuring him to look like that. I had people ask what colour hair dye I used, how long it took to set etc etc - not the kind of comments I had in mind when I got myself a gundog
Sarah - yep he got compared to Rod Stewart ( and Limahl ph34r and Peter Stringfellow ph34r ) on a daily basis. Another reason why it had to go. I think your two look very smart with their new trims, and not too manicured at all. :shades:

not offended by you in the slightest colin, and for what it's worth i think the streamlined jimmy version is far more handsome :luv: :luv: :luv:
do think that (like having a preference for show or working cockers) the hair do is entirely subjective - and unless it affects the health of the dog (or of course they're entering a show ring) then it's up to the owner and pooch as to hair dressing.
i'm sorry if jarvs adolescent bum-fluffish tuft offends some, but it's not going to get any longer or thicker - it's actually thinning a lot now and is disappearing slowly (not like a show cockers can - thank you jimmy aka rod stewart ;)) and for those it does offend, keep your coat kings in your pockets :005:
and daisy flat head - i think you're gorgeous dome or no dome, and tuft or no tuft :luv: :luv: :luv: :luv:
