Title: Thinning Scissors?
Post by: Allison on October 17, 2003, 12:05:07 PM
Just to confirm do you all recommend 46 teeth/point thinning scissors? :) I have looked back on a previous thread and  Diamond Edge recommended wo402. any advice on thinning out would be greatly appreciated.

Yes you need thinning scissors with 46 teeth. The Diamond Edge make would not be my personal choice - its worth paying extra for a good pair like Roseline but it depends on your budget really :)

Thanks Jane,
Roseline would be ok, anything for my baby.  Would you have an address for them.

Roseline are a brand of scissor and are available from Diamond Edge, or you could try www.denbar-uk-ltd.co.uk/acatalog/Denbar_Roseline_208.html&e=747

Re using thinning scissors - I know I've posted these pics before but rather than search through loads of old posts here they are again. They show you how to hold the scissor and in which direction to use them.

I have some Diamond edge cheap-ish thining scissors - but I find them too big and clumsy too use without making a mess.
Can anyone recommend a small pair of spaniel suitable thinnin gscissors - small as in not much longer than 6-7 inches-ish ??

Sorry to hi-jack your thread Allison  :)

Hi Kelly,

You can get some amazing professional Ice Tempered thinning scissors from ebay. Just got one,  its razor sharp ;D. Mine is 6 and half inches in length and cost me about £30

Sorry for sounding dumb :-[, Do you have to use only 46 teeth thinning scissors ?? I think mine is only 32 teeth and it works ok. Any advice will be welcome.

As far as I'm aware Alexander the ones recommended for a cocker are the 46 teeth  ;) I would imagine that you wouldn't be able to blend as well with the 32 teeth  :-

It would be lovely if they were £18 Allison - I'd be off straight away with a bulk order ;D Sadly the Roseline thinners are nearer the £35 mark on Diamond Edge, though sometimes you can pick them up a little less than this at shows.
