Sorry I need to rant >:D >:D
Eric has been to the groomers and I told her to do what she could but to leave his ears alone and to leave some skirt and feathers on his legs. She has scalped him and taken off his ears completely, all of his skirt and has left his feathers about 1cm long >:D His ears were only just recovering after having to come off the last time he went because they had got matted. He doesn't even look like a cocker now i am so upset :'( :'( I will not be taking him there again. I know it's only hair and it will grow back but i am so mad and upset >:D :'(

Poor you, and I hope Eric isn't too embarrassed when out and about. Could be a bit chilly round the ears. It annoys me when people we are paying do not do what we ask.

I'm sure Eric looks lovely although he's probably going to freeze in this lovely Cumbrian weather!! :lol2:

Yep, same groomers. I'm too soft because I really like the woman so I gave her the benefit of the doubt and this time told her exactly what I wanted and he still got a number 1 all over :'( :'(

Nearly as bad as when we hoomans go for a haircut with definate ideas of what we want, but the hairdresser think they know better >:D
Not sure we should pay someone who cannot do what WE want, are you? what happened to the customer is always right aye >:(
Hope poor poochy gets over his short back and sides real soon :embarassed:

>:( I really sympathise with you, this happened to Flo a few weeks ago, she looks very similar to Eric but her leg feathering is longer ( which makes it look even sillier) ::) and her ears have not been chopped >:D

i like them quite short but that is very short , im afraid i would have said you have just lost a customer as you didnt listen to what i asked for, maybe shes not very good and just does the old fashioned shear them off type of cut, the first lady we took kiz to when we had her years ago did that type of cut, it is annoying but at least you know it will grow back, pity it wasnt summer he would be lovely and cool ;) :blink: :blink:, look on the bright side no grooming for months :lol2:

He is still beautiful though ;) and it WILL grow back. Doesn't it make you sick, esp when you pay as well? Rest assured though, he is still a stunning big boy - AND the positives are: it'll be easier to keep the house clean, esp in this weather
I've never found a groomer do as I wish, once over the initial shock, you sort of get used to it! It will grow back, very soon - but I agree, he is defo scalped, no debate about it!
His markings are stunning :luv:

At least you can see all his lovely markings :luv: he reminds me of when he was a lickle puppy but those are months i would rather forget :005: :005:

Awww he must be a bit cold! He looks adorable though, I always think a short back and sides makes them look like puppies.

I think he looks lovely :luv: but i too would be very angry at her ignoring your instructions. >:( I'd be tempted to trim his tail a bit so it looks more inkeeping with the rest of him. :-\

Beautiful Eric could carry off any haircut :luv: but I totally understand how you must be feeling. my groomer totally scalped Poppy and I was so upset. Vote with your feet and don't go back/

I can't believe she scalped ALL of him...except his big fluffy tail - that's just ridiculous :shades:
he is really gorgeous though and he does look really cute and puppy like with his short back and no sides :luv: :luv: :luv:

awwww ickle sweetheart..!We used to call my cocker "the droowned rat" after a session with the groomer...he ll soon be back to normal bless him...i always say I ll resort to a paper bag over head for me when it goes wrong...and complain? hehe you must be joking...I really really could nt ....join the wuss brigade ! lol :005:

You probably all remember the last I posted pics of scalped Eric and think what a stupid moo going back. My problem is i don't like to think I am upsetting someone. I am mad at myself more than anything now. Needless to say Eric isn't bothered at all by it.

Oh Emma :'( He is still a handsome lad though :luv: Its a shock when they come back like that isnt it. :-\ It will grow back quickly though ;) I agree with Beth, chop the tail to match him up and it wont look as severe ;)

As for Eric.....well it goes to show just how yummy he is as he does carry it very well but OMG!!!! it is groomers like that who give good groomers (like me ;) )a bad name.....nothing gets my goat more than people that don't listen to what you want, if she didn't get what you meant she should have asked!, altho what you can confuse about a short cocker style WITH EARS LEFT! i do not know >:(

I know how you feel! The first groomer we took archie to did the same thing! Poor boy wasn't happy (or was i) but i did the same - smiled, said thank you and got out of there quickly :-\

Just wondering if your groomer's related to my hairdresser because I've just come back with no fringe, and I tell her and tell her it shrinks and to leave it long.
Actually we get Mollie a severe all over clip every time (about 4 times a year) and I like it like that. It's so much easier for her this time of year too with no snowballs clagging up her trousers and she stays a lot cleaner when it's muddy, and it's cooler for her in summer.

This happend to my old max once and it never ever grew back the same but he was an old dog, so upset i hated what i called a skinned chicken look! why cant they listen.

Why did she leave his tail though and clip the rest, I'd definitely not go back. He still looks like Eric and his coat will grow back really quickly. :luv:

Really annoying isnt it when they don't listen. In fact i am thinking of going on atraining course myself just to do Taz then its my fault if its not right!

It might be good to have a thread that gave a listing of groomers that we had good or bad reviews of, so that those in the area could see who to go to, and who to leave well alone.

Ah bless that is short! He does look beautiful still but I would be so angry if this happened to Smudge.
Now I am worried because I am taking him to a NEW groomer in 1 hour!
His former groomer has moved but the new groomer was trained by the old groomer so I hope she listens!!!

Well ours is Paula who runs Pampered Pets in Thurso. SInce we always get a short cut I've no idea how she does show cuts, but I'm not really interested in that. What I care about is how she treats my dog, and she's marvellous with Mollie. Talks and whispers to her the whole time and can do things with her that it would be impossible for us to do, given Mollie's back leg hangups. She has a lovely way with all dogs.

I hadn't realised until tonight but his bottom and down the backs of his back legs is just skin.
I saw another cocker owner today and had to excuse Eric's awful haircut ph34r

Yahooooooo. I've just had a very muddy walk with Eric. We were out for 2 1/2 hours and most of it on boggy land and 4 baby wipes later and I have a clean dog :005: It took me longer to clean myself up, I really don't know how I got mud on my head :005:

Agree with Beth re the tail. I like short but that is very short :o I am sure it will be fine in a week or two though and on the positive side, it will be ages before he needs another haircut! :shades: :005: He still looks lovely though :luv:

Awww Maddy looks lovely. Thus is the cut I wanted for Eric. I might use this pic of Maddy next time I take him (to a different one)

Auntie Chris is lovely with her and Maddy looks forward to seeing her, she always knows where we are when we pull into her drive, unfortunately I think we are a long way from you, otherwise you could have taken Eric there, she always does what I ask and trust me I have only gone on pictures of other cockers on here, Maddy is a pet, and our first cocker. Chris does have a lovely chocolate working cocker herself.
I don't think we are allowed to "advertise" on here but would gladly pass on her number if anyone in the Mansfield area wants to pm me for it :D
