Help finding a specific comb
« on: December 15, 2013, 05:14:24 PM »
Yesterday, Charlie was stripped, a comb was used on him (not all of him, and it wasn't a coat king etc)...however, the comb would be really useful for me as I struggle to strip him (carpal tunnel). The comb was about an inch long, and it had a "palm" length handle (I'm sure they'll come in different sizes) but the comb, so long as it had a bit of hair tangled in it, would strip the hair nicely. It's was quite old too. It had no marks on it, to see where it came from. Does anyone have any idea what it might be/where I could buy one?

Thank you
My beautiful little boy Charlie :)

Do you mean a comb with proper teeth or perhaps it was a stripping knife? I don't think I've seen a one inch long comb but stripping knives can be about that size, like these?

It was definitely a comb with teeth. It was quite old so it's likely its not made anymore...just curious as well

Was it a Spratts 76 comb, which is the cocker size!? I also have a bigger tooth sized one that I wind an elastic band through to strip the coat. Gets loads out and saves your fingers.  ;)

Other places do them, but this is what I mean. The elastic band I use is a red posty one as they are thicker and stronger. Works great!!  :D

I thought about the Spratts combs too but the comb bit is longer than an inch so decided it couldn't be one of those :-\

Intriguing...  Dying to know what it is - especially if it allows a bit of 'short-cutting'!  (I also thought stripping knife)

It wasn't a Spratts :( as I'd wondered if it was just a really old one :(.

It does sound like a stripping knife like these

I know, it isn't though. I wonder if it was just a really early version or something. It just looked like a normal comb, but an inch long.

Sorry you said above it wasn't. Are you sure it wasn't one of these. All stripping knives!?

No :( it is the same principle, I guess. With the tiny head, but it was more a wider toothed comb at the end, maybe teeth every 3 to 4 apart as you'd get on a sprats
