I want to know now!!  ;) :005: Can you not just ask them!? Mind you if showing I would not recommend anything with a blade. The Spratts comb with elastic band is the best I have found yet.   ;)

I did. It was unlabeled and given, and very likely to be old.

I'm mainly curious myself lol.

or

or this one although it's for horses

now I've seen it on a bigger screen, it definitely looked more like comb 1. I'm not sure it was the same, but it's definitely along the right lines-ish.

How strange as that is a dematting tool. lol  ;) I wouldn't want to be using that to strip personally. I am guessing it may have a similar effect to the likes of a coat king!?  :shades:

It looked similar but that wasn't it. The comb bit on the end just looked like a normal comb, but spaced like the de-matter

If you Google cake breaker (yes, lol) it looked like a straight version of that, with shorter teeth.

Just looked, weird!! lol  :shades: Not sure how that would work to strip the coat out though really!? I would try the comb with elastic band if you haven't already. You can't go wrong there in my view.  ;) xx

I agree - I don't think a comb like that would be really be any easier to use to strip coat out than a Spratts comb with elastic band (you can get spaniel combs with handles if you find them easier to use than the ones without a handle)

I have a comb with elastic band for stripping, I don't have an elastic band through my spratts comb though.

Ah well you need to get an elastic band on your Spratts then.  ;) I have tried other combs with the elastic bands as I prefer my greyhound type for combing through, but for stripping it has to be Spratts as the others quite honestly don't cut it for me, but just my opinion of course.  :shades:

What Spratts comb is it you thread the rubber band through?  I have a 76, but teeth too close for that.

Other question - do people showing cockers not use stripping knives at all?  Had assumed they do?

I have an elastic band threaded through my Spratts 72 comb (narrow teeth with a handle, not quite as narrow as the classic 76 though) - it works great for me :shades:

I never use a stripping knife on a show dog but there are some who do - just as some use clippers and coat kings and other "short cuts". I don't like the look of coats done with these kind of tools and was taught there are no short cuts to a properly hand stripped coat so that's what I stick to :D
