1st full clip - nothing left!
« on: June 17, 2014, 09:13:15 PM »
Rowan's had a persistent ear infection for a bit that nothing has cleared up. She's also had an allergic reaction to a shampoo (we think) that brought 100% of her body out into scaly/flaky hives. Her limp is back (vet can find no reason), so coupled with the heatwave here she was pretty miserable  :'( I decided to help her out by asking the groomer to take everything off! She's facing a general anaesthetic after her pre-op check tomorrow for ear flushes and cleans ( still have nightmares about the last one at spaying) so thought this would help her. I hardly recognise her with tiny shaved ears instead of majestic floor length teardrops!! She seems a bit  :embarassed: herself lol but if it helps will be worth it. She's lying in her bed with her head buried in a blanket  :005: :luv:  Had to get the full body shave and take away bib, feathers and skirt as she couldn't be groomed with all her lumps/bumps. Hopefully she'll look like a healthy show cocker again in a few weeks.  :luv:

Poor baby :'(. I really sympathise with you :-\. If things don't clear up soon with her skin/ears (and hopefully the flush will sort out that infection for a good while), I can really recommend that you ask for a referral to a specialist, as it took three visits for the vet we saw in Edinburgh to sort out Brodie's issues. As you know, she still has problems, but they are nowhere near as bad as they were that awful year. It's not cheap, but worth it. Not sure if I've ever told you his details, but I can pm you if you want them. He was brilliant.

Brodie has had a few ear flushes and they were nowhere near as traumatic as her spay was, and I'm sure it'll be the same for Rowan :luv:. She sulked for a while, but that's to be expected :P. I'm sure Rowan looks lovely and very puppy-like with her new haircut!

We'll be thinking of Rowan when she goes for her ear flush - Brodie is sending her niece gentle cuddles :luv:

I'm aware this is a bit of a delayed reply...

Aww Rowan...I bet you still look absolutely beautiful. She'll be lovely and cool for summer and it'll grow back.

How is she now?
My beautiful little boy Charlie :)

I meant to come on and update but with other things going on I never got the chance. Well, interestingly, when we went to the vet for the pre-op stuff we saw a freshly graduated vet instead of our usual (fabulous) normal vet. The girl was fantastic - had the courage to over rule the vet and said she didn't need op. she spent ages with us, cleaning, massaging and new drops. She gave a very very detailed demo of exactly how to reach the problem (vertical canal clear but not the horizontal one). She's back a third time on Monday but looking hopeful now as massively improved. Still all lumpy bumpy and using vets shampoo but not miserable. Hair not growing back quick enough, me and her are mortified still! She's benefited heat wise though. Seeing your lovely Charlie pics made us jealous! Could live with short body (shows a need to trim down a bit - work in progress) but I want the great big long curly teardrop ears. I'm keeping an eye on her as vet was interested in auntie Brodie's ear issues.

That is great about Rowan not needing to have her ears flushed, wonder if the vet you saw fancies coming through my way :005:. Fingers crossed the appointment on Monday goes well. Brodie isn't too bad at the moment; right ear's a bit itchy (it's usually the left) and most of her skin is ok apart from the inside of her ear flaps, which are a mess. Good to hear Rowan's skin is slowly getting better too.

I know exactly what you mean about her ears: I've thought in the past about getting Brodie's clipped right down, but find it too upsetting ph34r. If Rowan's coat is anything like hers, I'm sure it will soon be back to how it was. They are a right pair :luv:.
