okay - there is no magic brush   - never mind!

Barney is literally rolling his eyes at me when i start the pickathon - i may cut the underneath a little as this is where they are mostly living!!! i like the rubber band idea - will try it.

if i come up with any new ideas then i'll let you all know!

thanks for all the replies!

Yes, they are a pain.
Lottie comes home with them stuck all over, although I condition her coat well and I think that helps.

She was playing with a large shaggy dog today and they obviously found a huge patch of them.

Lottie doesnt get too many, because her coat is fine but the other dog literally had a green face afterwards.
It was hysterical

They are definitely easier to get out of her coat when it is dry.

I cut Molos tummy fur really short at the beginning of the summer - leaving the side feathers, so its not obvious - but I decided it was better for it to look a bit short than get knotted and plant-tats all the time  :(

     Sorry, but that's so funny!

Maybe Buddy doesn't get them as bad as some older dogs then? His coat is still very fine (6 months old). Guess it might get worse as he gets older.

BTW are the "sticky willies" the brown or the green things? And I don't think I know the brown ones at all (lucky me), what are they, does anyone know?

Bramble has a rather large chunk of matted ear hair at the moment as  I think one of the brown one's (aren't these well known as sticky buds) got in unnoticed and bramble hates having his ears messed with. I really think he is going to have to have it cut out!!!!  :( unless anyone can suggest another way???????? I think the green ones come from goose grass but I may be wrong.
By the way can you use ordinary hair conditioner on dogs?

In our house they are called sticky Willow's. having a Willow this is OK, but if Bilbo gets them OH calls them sticky Bilbo's and so on.
I always have a comb in the car and comb in the car park of the park, if you wait until you get home they start to grow everywhere, the driveway, the patio etc

sticky willies here!! Must be the Scottish sense of humour :P I used to just hand pick them out but......I havent had the pleasure of them this year - I have a diff walk now but the down side is huge wood coloured flies that home in on me and bite and they wont ping off. Dont know what they are but like something out of a horror movie. Dont mind the odd beastie but they are too much..

I also have a very long haired cat who gets more on him than Pepsi does. Last year it was a real pain as Gizmo HATES being groomed at the best of times. Pepsi is quite tolerant.

Poppy seems to get sticky willies in her feathers and on her ears. I've found the spratts 76 comb gets them out quite well , provding her coat is dry and not too tangled to begin with.

Both myself and my son have been bitten this year by a fly fitting this description.
The bites on me really became swollen and uncomfortable and as I also did not know what the flies were I tried to look them up on the internet but to no avail. I can,t recall having seen this type of fly before either!!!!
