Top knot... Will it grow back?
« on: March 10, 2016, 11:30:00 AM »
Monty is currently sporting a Donald Trump-esque top knot...

The boyfriend wants it trimmed off but I'm rather fond of it! We need his ears trimmed as he is getting matts. I've just spread peanut butter over the bottom of the fridge to distract him whilst I used my new Matt splitter (very effective as it turns out!) If we ask the groomer to trim his top knot off will it grow back? It's currently blonde, but the rest of his back and neck is black....

Hmm... You can see what I mean in the picture..

Ha ha! i love the Trump comparison!!!
Humphrey had his top not cut off for the first time a few  weeks back and its already getting quite thick again, so I think it does probably grow back. Someone else will surely tell you for sure though. It does look cute on Monty, especially as its just a contrast!! Let us have a photo if/when its done!

I would think it would grow back but it does look rather cute. Dexter has a top knot which my daughter combs into a spike and calls him a unicorn!

You could do it with setting gel and make a punk cocker!

Haha! I'm forever making it into spikes, he looks particularly fetching with bunches!
Still undecided, will post a picture once we've been to the groomers, thankyou all!

Monty is far too cute to be compared to Donald Trump  :005:
I'm sure it'll grow back, I did trim Rory's curly top knot a few months ago but I've now let it grow back as I missed it too much!  He'll look lovely top knot or not  ;)

I whent through the whole Top Knot with my groomer, I done all 3 stages, all off, just a tydy up or full Top Knot.

The Groomer warned me that she will look very different without her Knot, she did and a have to say I prefer her to have it just kept out of her eyes.

He has far too much of a cute face to take off his golden locks :luv:

Its incredible how it can alter the whole expression, - especially the hair at the top of the ears - when its all sleek and neat they look beautiful and sophisticated but the top notch portrays their real character, I think (i.e. Chaotic!!!)  :005:

It will grow back. If it's handstripped it will grow back quite smoothly, but if it's cut or clipped it will probably end up curly after several times of being scissored or clipped.

I don't know much about sables, but I think I read somewhere that if you clip you lose the sable effect because it's a shading on the ends of the hairs and clipping cuts all those ends off in one go? Hopefully somebody who knows more about sables will be able to tell you if that's correct or not.

I am so glad I'm not the only one who loves the top knot, whenever I say to my groomer to leave the top of his head she always gives me a funny look and still trims it!  >:(

It does grow back and I am sure it does it good to have a little trim.

If you want top-knot, we've got top-knot:

This has been groomed off four or five times now, he's two-half. As you can see it's still flourishing.

I took Jasmine (18 months) to the groomers yesterday and had her top knot hand stripped, and the advice was that if hand stripped rather than clipped it would grow back wispy.

Much as I love her top knot it was getting out of control. She looks very different without it, and it takes some getting used to.
