:luv: :luv:Your Jasper looks like my Jasper he's orange too. so I think he's the dogs wotsits in the good looking stakes. I gives me an idea of how my boy would have looked if we hadn't had him clipped. He had a kind of Adolf Hitler thing going on. Had to go. It sounds like your boy has fallen on his feet finding a great new mum like you. My step son has Aspergers and our dogs love him and visa versa, in fact i'm hoping he comes at the weekend so i can put photos on (i'm worse than useless). :005:
He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithfull and true,to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.Anon.

Aww he is just lovely (and Jimmy is too)

You will be shocked whenhe has been groomed but you will love the lack of debris and water her doesnt bring into the house once he has been trimmed!

He is lovely!! Jem gets a bit Afghan like before a hairdo!

Jem really didn't like being groomed so we use treats. She now loves getting groomed. After pics please!

Well here he is, the light-weight version of the hairy yeti.

Still looks a bit odd and mixed responses about taking away the top knot but at least the legs should bring in less mud!

What do you think?

Hi there

I hope you won't be offended but I must admit I'd be a bit disappointed if a groomer clippered my dogs all over like that ( although it's hard to see properly with him sitting down, so maybe I'm doing the groomer a dis-service) - but he still looks very handsome and will appreciate shedding some of that fluff with the weather getting warmer now.

If you have a good read of the grooming section there's lots of threads on how to trim using a Coat King and thinning scissors, which gives a much more natural look than using clippers - you could teach yourself and probably not just save a lot of money longterm but also do a better job. You could make a start by thinning out the ears a bit.  ;)

Re the topknot - I got loads of hassle from everyone I know for removing Jimmy's and must admit I missed it myself for a while. Now looking back at the old photos I wonder what I was thinking of - he looks so much better now with a nice neat head and less like an 80's big haired  freak.

Like you thought she had clipped a bit hard but notably cooler today so he is probably happier.  I had asked not to take too much off the body as the adult sleek coat starting to come though but she had taken some.

Legs are quite feathered at the back but clean up the front. Back legs taken off to the hock so looks a bit like he's in baggy britches but it'll grow back all to quickly I suspect! She kept his skirt but took some off the chest.

To be honest I think I probably would have a go at thinning where needed now the overgrowth has gone, there was too much to know where to start before.  I'll work through the threads further.

Everywhere I asked so far sounded astonished when I asked about hand stripping as opposed to clipping!
