shampoos and conditioners
« on: August 01, 2006, 08:20:16 PM »
Can anybody recommend a good dog shampoo that has not been tested on animals.  Also, is it necessary to use a conditioner after bathing them and if so can anyone recommend a good conditioner, again that has not been tested on animals.

Also, how often should you bath them if they do not get particularly smelly or muddy whilst out walking.

Thanks a lot.

Hi There

Hope you are ok

We just use good old johnsons baby shampoo on freddy, and we only bath him every 2 or 3 months as we don't want his coat to go all funny and wiry.

How is pringle doing?

I use one of the Greenfields ones for Alfie, it's not too expensive and it's a lovely smell which seems to last quite a while. Well, until he jumps into the next bog anyway!  ::)

As for frequency, I only bath him when he really needs it. Usually he just gets a quick hose down of his paws and under his belly when he's been wading in the mud. We've had him for 5 months now and has only had maybe 4 proper baths but countless hosedowns. He swims a lot which seems to keep him pretty clean and he doesn't smell at all.
