Brushing/combing
« on: December 12, 2006, 12:49:48 PM »
I got the brush/slicker out the other day to give Holly a little brush. She legged it after the first stroke. I was sooooo gentle it couldn't possibly have hurt her. Now, every time I try it she just runs away and hides, cheeky monkey!  How the hell do I do it???
Also, when should a pup have its first trim?
Thanks

She may be scared as shes prob never been brushed before and she might think "whats that".Have you tryed putting her on the grooming table then brushing her whilst somebody could hold her,she will soon get used to it and enjoy it!
How old is holly? Was you going to handstrip her if so i would say round 10months but it does depend if the coat is ready to come out.If the hair on her feet round her pads are long you could trim them with straight scissors  they bring alot of mud in  >:( its better to start grooming when they are young,so when they do go to the groomers or you do it yourself they are used to noise and it wont bother them. You could sit her down and pretend you was trimming her,it gets them used to the sound
