Hi we decided to clip Jasper or my partner decided! we have left all of the feathering and just clipped the body. But he has lost his golden colour and is now more of a light dull colour our son said he looked white  >:(  I think this is the first time he has been clipped so he has been clipped from quite a long length.

Does any one now if he will darken or should I attempt to grow it back as he does look quite strange, I know it wont ever come back quite the same. Will it take a couple of months to grow back? and does anyone have any pictures of their golden cockers when they were clipped and when it has grown back.
thanks

bailey always looks like that when we get him clipped.  Much lighter and not shiny and golden.  Its just so much easier for us as he goes swimming and through deep mud quite alot.  He always gets darker and shiny again when he starts to get his coat back!  He usually looks quite odd for a week or two though after being clipped.

Trev used to be the opposite, his light gold grew quicker than his dark gold so he always went a really lovely deep gold when clipped and got lighter when fluffy...  :o

I can't possibly give you any advice without seeing any photos!!   :005: :005:

Here are some pictures, he was a deep golden colour before! our other cocker is clipped in the same way but is still a dark gold as you can see in the picture how much lighter he is.
sorry the pics are not great they wouldn't sit still for me!

My friend's cocker Spud goes even lighter when clipped, I don't know whether it's because he has a really thick coat or not really. They were a bit shocked as well.

Jasper is lovely.  :luv:

Sophie our golden cocker was always very light blonde after clipping - but rest assured, she always grew back to her beautiful reddish gold!

Wow, he looks gorgeous - so silky.

I'm sure I'll get those clippers to Oscar soon - I just love that silky feel all over. Every time I mention it though, someone talks me out of it. What length did you do?

I don't think he looks too pale at all - a lovely blonde colour.

Love Chris & longhair Oscar.

I have just used a pair of clippers from argos with no comb attachment and the arm on the side down. He does feel really nice and smooth .
I always said i would not get the clippers out but i gave in! he doesn't get quite dirty now so it does have its plus points.
