Need to find a groomer I am comfortable with! near Derby
« on: July 31, 2008, 02:02:31 PM »
I am desperate to find a good groomer in/near Derby.

Woofie has been groomed twice in his life.  I could manage before he was neutered 18 months ago but now he is just a woolly mammoth.

The first lady I took him took scalped him within an inch of his life and the second left two scissor puncture wounds on him!

Ideally I would like someone to come to the house (so they could attempt to do Maddie as well) but I am willing to travel to find the right person (I would like to stay.

Has anyone got any recommendations please?

(I have thought about investing in some good clippers but I just couldn't do it to my Woofalump when I can't even cut my own fringe  ph34r )

Do them yourself, you can get the finish you want then, its not impossible - If I was a bit closer I'd offer the loan of my clippers for you to try  ;)

Guess you want to do them before October when we all go to Devon  :shades:

Thank you for the offer of the clippers but I wasn't joking when I said I can't cut my own fringe  ph34r

We can keep Maddie looking tidy but Woofie is getting very hairy again and he is suffering from the heat a bit.

I might take you up on you taking your clippers to Devon though - when its peeing it down outside you can give me a masterclass in clipping  :005:

Have you tried a coat king on woofie? I've just started using one on Lucy and it works soooooo well, she's actually sleek and shiny for the first time in her life. :o

No I haven't - I don't actually know how they work - do they strip hair out?

The coat king is a really good tool, took quite a bit off Louie with mine last week and I didn't think there was that much loose hair on him  :o

I have taken, easily, a sandwich bag full of hair off Lucy in about a week, and she's cat sized. :o

Lisa if you want to give the coat king a go before you buy you're more than welcome to pop around here and borrow ours! You can even try the grooming table if you want!  :005: You're only round the corner from us now practically, if you can wait a week or so I don't mind driving to yours aslong as you don't mind Chloe and the kids tagging along!  :005:

I take Jessie to Snazzydogs in Chilwell....I know its Nottingham but its only 20 mins from Derby...

They are very good and do what you ask them. I have learnt to be descriptive and give them clear instructions...like 'do not clip her legs I dont like the goat cut' lol

They do a good job!

Do you have to drop them off and then pick them back up cos Woofie would be ok but Maddie is a scaredy cat  ph34r
