my cocker smells of damp fur
« on: October 31, 2008, 03:30:48 PM »
Hello everyone,

Beau seems to get very wet ears and the fur smells really horrid a bit like a rain coat that has been stored damp. We dry him thoroughly after we have walked him but he does have a really strange smell after a few days of bathing him. Our springer spaniels coat never smells. Is this just a beau thing or do cockers have a smell of their own.how often should i be bathing him
I am worried that i am doing something wrong with him i clean the inside of his ears weekly with olive oil but it is the fur on the outside where he keeps getting his ears wet that smells, advice please. :embarassed:

Ellies ears stink when they are wet. I dry them thoroughly with a dryer and sometimes use some coat conditioning spray on the brush. They smell lovely then. Or you could always wash her ears in a jug of water with some mild shampoo. Saves having to bath all of her.

I got one from the groomers range. Her ears still smelt nice even after getting wet again in the sea.
