Stripping Knife VS Hand Stripping

Does using a stripping knife get the same result as hand stripping?

Stripping knives tend to cut the hair where as hand stripping removes the hair from the root. You will get the result of removing excess hair but if you use a knife it will come back course, blunt and probably thicker.
