hi all, just wondering if it,s okay to use a leave in light spray conditioner on the coat,as i have had alot of problems combing the luggs out,and this spray is fab,i don,t do it very often, but it does make jaspers coat lovely and silky, will it harm his skin?so far all is well and the vet has seen no problem with his skin,,what do you think,,any advice would be very welcome

many thanx

I don't really know about this, but I must admit that in times of desperation, I've used Johnson's baby shampoo on Danny, with no apparent adverse effects.  I'm not advocating this sort of attitude, but my Dad always says that 'in his day' dogs were washed in the back yard witha a hose and washing up liquid.  Thankfully Mum buys them nice doggy shampoo.

We always use Johnsons baby shampoo on Bailey - have never had any problems with his coat - he always looks and smells lovely after his bath (though we only bath him about every 2 months or so)

I'd be interested to hea what other people on the forum use.

Hi Ziggy, I thought you must be from Birmingham when I saw the word Lugg

A leave in conditioner is fine to use on a cocker, certainly makes the coat easier to groom. I am surprised at the number of people I talk to who don't use a conditioner after bathing their dogs, makes grooming a lot easier. I use a proffesional shampoo for long coats and a cheap conditioner from Netto   39p for 500mls it is excellent.

Ziggy

I just use Tee Tree shampoo and conditioner on Phoebe - dilute it a bit though so it's not as concentrated. The conditioner has definitely helped grooming and keeper her cleaner longer................sounds like and advert

If I don't have a dog shampoo in then I just reach for my shampoo and conditioner. Personally I think they smell nicer after using mine than their own. I always follow on with a conditioner. The smell lasts longer and leaves the coat more glossy in my opinion. Done it on all my dogs and never had any skin problems.
