"chinese whiskers"
« on: July 18, 2009, 02:31:57 PM »
Under his chin, on each side of his jaw, Rufus has what looks like a long moustache, if you pull it down. It is courser than the hair under the rest of his chin. It grows quite quickly. You do not notice it normally as it sits close to the under jaw. Does it have a name, and do only dogs get it? The groomer trims it. Just interested.

I don't know if they have a name but Tilly has these long, coarse hairs on her lower jaw too so it's not just a male dog thing. Rodaidh has a few whiskery hairs there but not many, his coat is very silky. Tills gets them trimmed by the groomer too, a 'tache isn't a good look on a girl :lol2:

LOL Milly has these too! Bethany calls her "catfish"  :005: I've threatened to whip them off, but that didn't go down too well with my DD. On the plus side, I use them to hold her head when grooming - works a treat!!  ;)

Lady Lucy has these too, but they grow all the way round her muzzle, so it's less tache but more toilet brush  :005:

Oh dear, much as Rufus loves the ladies (well would if he could) he is getting a complex in case it's a lady cocker thing! ph34r He also is not impressed at the idea of them being used for extra grooming grip, but what a good idea mum2milly! Especially for the burr infested feathers.

I'm afraid to say that I can cope no more with the ever increasing cat fish look.  ::)
Milly is booked in for a trim today (fortunately there is a lovely dog groomer who lives just up the road from the lady where I have my waxing done - so this afternoon we will both be fuzz free!!  ;)  :005:

Love Jo and Milly xx

Milly is looking forward to showing off her new look (though it is very subtle) to Rufus, & has already been at her "get rid of doggy smell perfume" - caught her dabbing some behind her ears in preparation for her date!  :005:
