He looks lovely & very grown up  :luv: :luv: :luv:

I'm just beginning to make a start on Duggie, but may have to give in and go to a groomer. :-\
Harry who is 9 months is resembling in afghan  :lol2:.  I have trimmed his paws & been stripping his back & took a bit of his fringe as even with his centre parting it was getting in his eyes  :lol2: but he's getting his 1st proper trim soon with a professinal with the hope that once he's had his grown up trim then I can carry on & follow what she's done

Hi, Can I ask? What did you ask for at the groomers? I'm a bit stuck as what to ask for!!!!

Yes we felt the same - we have always been explicit that NO CLIPPERS should be used, but agreed to thinning scissors on the chest area and ears.  For personal preference, I asked for his paws to be trimmed and rounded so that his claws were not visable, asked that hair was trimmed so as not to show his anus, asked for a smooth head finish and for a small area immediately in front of his willy to be shaved (we were finding that as he still squats down to wee (as opposed to cocking his leg) that he was shooting his wee forward and this was going all over the surrounding fur and making him rather smelly.  I think they refer to this as a "false skirt"?  (not sure).  We'd been advised to pick him up immediately after he's wee'd to check how far up was wet, then remove the hair to that point.  The groomer seemed to understand this completely and it does seem to have helped.  She did say groomers have to be careful not to take too much hair away as otherwise it can make the appearance of the skirt appear thin.  Next time she wants to try and get a bit more definition around the muscles of the back legs and I think I'll ask her to leave the length of the skirt to grow so that his willy isn't quite as visable.  (I sound really fussy don't I?  Am I every groomers nightmare???)

We're lucky enough to have a breeder who is very skilled in hand stripping to prepare cockers for the show ring and has beautiful photos of Ollie's mother and father.  So we took these with us to the groomers as a guide of what we are hoping for once he has a full coat (not that we're intending to show him, just would love to get the best out his looks).  So I'm sure that helped a lot.

Hope you find someone you can be happy with too.

Bluemoonrose - that is so useful!

When we go, we'll just ask for an 'Ollie' cut! (well apart from the willy bits when it's Blodwen's turn!)

Helloeee.  Muppet has had her reciprical (sp) hairdressing appointment today after we couldn't go to the one we gave to you.  Sam asked me if I thought you were happy  :005:

I had no idea about the willy palava....i knew there was a reason I had girls.

I initially dropped Mups off for a bath and brush out, but by the time I got back home there was a msg asking me to call the salon.  My immediate thought was that muppets stitches had come adrift in the bath but she was only ringing to say a dog had cancelled and did I want a full strip?

I now have a lovely hound parading around the living room.  Not sure how long she will stay like that!

Have you booked in again as they now have nothing til March!  ph34r

Wow - what a handsome boy!!

We're in Cardiff (I have Maddy who is nearly 6 months and VERY woolly already!) and was wondering where to go / what to do with her regarding grooming. I'm so impressed with Ollie - do you mind telling me where it was that you went?? I'll definitely be asking for an 'Ollie' cut too!!

Many thanks! Lucy

Lush Puppies in Newport - 01633 290999, ask for Sam and say "Muppet" sent you and she will happily oblige.  If you can't make it back to Cardiff there is always a huge retail park opposite while you wait!  ;)
