It is fasinating isn't it. See Tally had one of each. Black Mummy red Daddy. Daddy prob doesn't have the thickiest of coats, but wouldn't say like Tallys either really. He's a gorgeous boy. Fell for him straight off.  :luv:

Dru as Jeanette says has 2 black parents. Maybe that does play a part.  :huh:

Just reread that and it doesn't give the full details Belles sire was Golden and thick coat, Dam was Black also thick coat = Belle Black with a thick coat.
Montys Sire Golden/red average coat, Dam Golden and thick coat = Monty Golden with less coat.

Tally - Sire red average coat & Dam black average coat = sparse red coat.
Dru -Sire black thick coat & Dam black thick coat = VERY thick black coat.  :shades: :005:

Remember that grooming and neutering also plays a part. Both my boys are entire and handstripped. While Tallys 2 full sisters are spayed and clipped and they are the wooliest bears you've ever seen.  :shades: :005:

Both of mine are unneutered but have been clipped twice now following the gloss paint incident ph34r How it will affect their coats is yet to be seen I suppose, but the difference in their amount and type of coat was noticeably different prior to clipping ;)

I'm just posting a photo of Quinn at 6 months old - looks like a powderpuff, gotta love that puppy coat  :shades: :005:

Not as hairy as Belle though.

His coat looks very similar in texture and quantity to Belles , Much more coat than Monty at the same age ;)

It was only 5 months ago he looked like that  :005: :005:   I didn't realise til I looked back on photos because of this thread.   He's lost half his body size now  ;)
