Ellie is an orange roan with a lot of white on her.  As soon as her paws touch grass she rolls and rolls and rolls so she has a proper bath once a month.

Can you bath a dog too much? Darcey is orange roan and a lot of White too and looks like she needs a frequent bath.

I would say that's fine, lots of people don't bath their dogs at all, I only bath Sonny when he's rolled in poo, which isn't often. If he's very muddy I just hose him down in the garden or rinse him in the shower if it's cold outside.

Freya had an unplanned bath this afternoon after falling in the smelly pond  >:(

Still, she can swim  :005:

I wash the both of them when they smell. Not a dogsmell but a smelly mudpond smell.

Ones a week we go to the beach and after a few bathings in the sea there coat becomes  ahahahahha.... it tangles a lot.

Sot that's when they have a bath.

O.K. - I am going to confess.  ph34r  I have been hovering over this posting for a while.   ph34r  Will I be considered a negligent owner if I admit it?   ph34r :005:
I have admitted it to one member ( she knows who  ;) ) but now I will 'out' myself.
My two girls are nearly four YEARS old and they have NEVER had a bath.  ph34r ph34r
When they roll in things (which they do  >:( ) I have just washed that area.  When they have got really muddy (as they have  >:() I have hosed them down outside.
They don't smell, they look and feel clean and they both have lovely glossy coats.
As working cockers they do have much less coat than the show type ( well, that's my excuse anyway )  ph34r ph34r  :005: :005:
Max (GSP)  always in my heart

Mine get bathed when they need it - Quinn gets bathed if I am going to his breeders for a trim so he has had 3 baths in a year.  I don't like bathing him at the moment as he is in the matty stage where puppy coat is still coming out so as soon as he's wet he matts.

Indie hasn't had a bath for a year now but surprisingly she doesn't smell.

Mine get bathed on average once a fortnight.  We hike often and they pick up all manner of mud and plant debris.  Regular baths keep their coats manageable (both hand stripped not clipped), and keeps house and furniture clean.

Only when she needs it or has rolled in something unpleasant..... but I pop her in the shower.
Can't understand why she loves the beach, burns, lakes, rivers(had to be fished out of one of those)
but does not like a bath!!

Is there any danger of their fur drying out if you bath them too often? Darcey has puppy fluff to but I find it easier to groom after a bath. It goes soooo soft it's lovely :luv:

It is said that shampoo and cleaning products strips the natural oil from a dogs coat, which I presume would leave it dry  :dunno:

If you use a good dog shampo it won't be a problem.

I use Jean Peau:
