I have used coat king twice now and I think his coat over his back is thinning out a bit, however, it is definately not silky. It still looks rather stiff and dry. He is silky on his head and neck and ears only but that was always the case. I am going to persevere though, as there is still a lot of fluff coming out whenever I do it. I am going to let it grow a little bit on his back and keep thinning it out. I have also started giving him salmon oil. I am trying to find something which I can apply to his coat to make it less dry as well but no luck so far. Any suggestions gratefully received. He is a work in progress! Your dog looks so like Rufus!

Which coatking do you use? how many knifes 12 or 20? If your dog is very fluffy you have to use 20 knife to get rid of the fluff and then you can keep it in shape every 2 weeks with the 12 knifes.

He will probably never have a silky coat but you could try something like minkoil to moisture the coat:

Or the christal or herbal oil from Jean peau:
