I Need Help With Indie's Hair
« on: February 10, 2005, 07:29:37 PM »
Hi,

I'm taking Indie to a dog portrait competition on Saturday at pets at home in Nottingham, the only problem is that his hair on the top of his head will not lie flat. It sticks up all over the place, like little kiss curls. How can i get them to lie down flat. He won't let me put a hairdryer near him so thats out,  i've tried brushing it flat after his bath, but it doesn't work and as son as he's dry, it sticks up again. Any ideas without resorting to moussing his hair???

Or you could thin it out by hand :D use some talc or don some rubber gloves, and start gently plucking.

If it is ready to come it will come out fairly easy.

I tried stripping it by hand but it doesn't seem ready to come out yet. (he is less than 5 months old) I haven't got any thinning scissors yet. didn't expect i'd need any for another month or so yet. I'll have another go with the hair dryer tomorrow after bathing him.

My boy Max is 13mths and has a head full of curls - no matter how short it goes it still sticks up - i think it adds to his charm.

I had him when he was 9mths and would have loved to seen him as baby with those curls :D

Cute and curly - may just win the comp for you ;)  :D

Good luck!

Thanks, I will leave it as it is then :) Luvly, they will be showing it in the evening post. They have their pet idol competition on at the moment though, so it will be after that that they're printed.

Hi all, couldn't resist a brag but my Sandy, (orange roan) won our local dog portrait competition at Pets at Home, we won a canvass print of her and she wasn't as well groomed as she is now that I've been getting tips from my breeder friend and Cockersonline.

My tip - Sandy laid down for her shot and therefore her photo was landscape and not portrait like all of the other photos, think this may have given her that winning edge as she had a middle parting thing going on at the time.
