Andis 7, 7F, 5, 5F?
« on: October 23, 2011, 02:57:22 PM »
Hi All,

Sorry if this has been asked before - I did look, honest. :D but couldn't find it. ph34r

My Andis clippers came with a 10 blade, but it cuts the coat a bit short - what is better for the body - 7, 7f, 5 or 5f?

What is the difference between 7 and 7f?

Thank you,
Silke x

I use the Andis 7FC, it seems to give a finer cut.  :shades:

The F is for "full" (or sometimes FC for Full cut) and the number by itself is a skip tooth blade, which means that the teeth are set wider apart. The skip tooth blades are more suited to curly coats such as poodles and bichons, or terrier coats

I think you will find the 7f (or fc) will give a nice finish. The 5 blades give a bit longer cut but I find that depending on the kind of coat a cocker has it doesn';t always give as nice a fininsh
