Any tail brushing tips?
« on: December 05, 2011, 11:50:13 AM »
We made a big breakthrough
everywhere else when I got a
Mikki porcupine brush(with
the plastic bristles) after
trying with several different
pinbrushes/slickers but I'm
still struggling with the tail.
She just doesn't like tail brushing!
Tried treats, squeezy cheese, doingit
lying down with my hand on her tail
brushing feathers against floor.I
occasionally manage a quick swipe
(by "accident")when I'm doing her
legs and I always apologise :005:
Should I just give up trying or has
someone got a sneaky trick for me?

Toby tries to sit while I'm doing his tail so I put my left forearm under his belly to prevent him from sitting while I'm combing away at his tail. Then I sweep all his feathering up towards the end of his tail and comb that bit as well. I do have to stand him on a grooming table though cos he won't stand still at all on the floor.

Taz doesnt like his tail brushing either - fortunately it doesnt seem to get tangled so just give it a quick brush when i can.  In comparison my collie cross loved hers brushed.

On a positive note - after 4 years of trying i finally managed to trim 3 nails on Saturday.  We do regular road walking so they don't really need doing, but i have been trying to do them so when they do need to be done i can do them, so 3 is a bit of an achievement - going to a whole paw next time :005:
