Writhing around? hmm...
« on: January 28, 2013, 06:07:45 PM »
Hi,

Ever since we got Cali, when she gets excited in the living room she takes to writhing around on her back, mouth open, breathing really heavily. She mainly does it when one of us gets up on a morning or comes in from work, so its when she hasnt seen one of us for some time. Is this just excitement?

It doesnt bother us, just curious I guess as to what it means in doggy language.

Thanks

Jarv loves a good writhe - not normally on greeting but at some stage of the evening he will throw himself on the floor and perform his special version of back stroke  :lol2:  He loves it and it's not done out of stress or anything.

I think she's turned it into her habit and her way of greeting you  :luv:

We've just had Bingley's evening floorshow doing pretty much the same thing!

Jem does this too, it makes us laugh. She usually rubs her ear on the floor first then throws herself onto her back and has a good wriggle.

No idea why she does it, but it is sweet  :luv:

We call it Monty's happy roll. Usually carried out on the rug during early evening!

Alfie goes for the 'slide along on one ear' approach too before rolling and writhing on his back in 7th heaven! His favourite place for doing this is on the gravel on the driveway or on a very stony road as his antics are often instigated by a need to relieve an itch.

William does it too, usually when we get back from a walk or after he's been fed.

Now you know I will insist on an impression when I next see you  :005:  ;)

Isaac and Teva do it too (without hippo noise  :'(  :005:) really funny, and I love to see them so relaxed in a 'I don't care what I look like' way  :luv:

Oh yes, Jem does it on our gravel drive too. I'm always a little bit worried she'll get a stone in her ear!

ahhh... good to know its a cocker thing! Cali has some real strength in her legs now at 5 months, so when she puts on her 'writhing show' she pushes against us as leverage!! its got to the point where shes moving our coffee table she pushes so hard!!
