I think it is interesting that ideas on dog training have changed greatly over the years and that there are still so many people with out dated ideas.

I am so pleased to have found this forum, as there has been lots of good advise from Top Barks and others on basic dog training that helped with a rescue dog we had, who came with baggage. It would have been so easy to go along the lines of pack leader with him when all he needed was positive training, rewarding and 'reinforcing the good behaviour, ignoring the unwanted and getting him to do something else when he was doing the unwanted. Hope that makes sense.
