More surgery for William tomorrow

elaine.e:
My lovely boy is getting a reputation for having unusual lumps! After having a minute unusual lump removed from his tongue just over 3 months ago he now has another minute unusual lump, this time in the third eyelid of his right eye. I noticed it a few weeks ago so took him to the ophthalmologist who checks his eyes every 6 months because he has Dry Eye and cataracts. She wasn't sure what it was and prescribed some steroidal eye drops to see if they would get rid of it. They didn't, so I phoned her and had a talk with her about it because William has two other lumps that might need surgery that are being monitored by my usual vet. Next step was a visit to my usual vet, followed by a phone conversation between the 2 vets.

The consensus is that the minute lump in his third eyelid should be removed in case it's something nasty like a squamous cell carcinoma. Neither vet is sure what it is, but removing it now while it's still tiny, and sending it off for investigation seems sensible. Both the vets have a niggling worry about it, especially as the lump on William's tongue turned out to be cancer. Not that this is related to that, but he seems to be prone to unusual lumps, so it adds to the concern.

As he'll need a GA for that he's also going to have a tiny lump removed from his gum, believed to be a harmless Epulis, but no certainty because the lump on his tongue looked very similar. He's also going to have a fatty lump removed. It's next to his penis (and is known as Willy's willy lump :005:) and is growing rapidly. If it gets much bigger it will affect his waterworks. So rather than wait and see, and then probably needing it removed in the next few months, that will be removed tomorrow too.

Please send some positive thoughts for William tomorrow. The eye and mouth surgery will be quite quick to do and should heal quickly. The fatty lump will take longer and will have quite a few stitches. Then it will be the nerve wracking wait for me until the test results on the eyelid lump come through, plus nursing my boy in his cone of shame. He takes a while to recover from anaesthesia and the last time he was quite poorly for a while.

Louis will be going to stay with his Auntie Maria for a few days because he'll get himself worried about the veterinary smell of William and will be constantly sniffing him and pushing him round and generally being a pain in the bum!

Sending  :bigarmhug: to the very handsome William  :luv:
Hoping all his lumps are harmless ones, they do seem to get a few as they get older don't they.
Keeping everything crossed for the eyelid lump, it sounds like whatever it is you are on top of it very quickly which has to be good news.

Will be thinking of you both tomorrow and hoping William is back home with you very soon and not feeling too bad from the anaesthetic.

Markr64:
Sending William lots of love and wishing him all the best.

The same for you also Elaine as it is not an easy time when your baby is going through a tough time.

Linda B:
