RIP Alice

aliceandlouis:
Our precious Alice was pts yesterday  :'( :'( :'(

She had been becoming increasingly debilitated by her arthritis and dementia but was pottering along (although we were already beginning to question the wisdom of putting her through another winter  :-\).  She had recently had a change in her medication for pain relief and was wearing an adaptil collar to help her settle in the evenings (her dementia meant she tended to pace and whine most evenings) and both of these things had improved her quality of life but she wasn't going on long walks, with most of her exercise being home and garden based.  On Sunday she refused to eat her breakfast (unheard of!) and then started vomitting.  She rapidly became weak and by 7pm she was at the vets.  He gave her some anti-emetic drugs and we were told to give her 5mls of dioralyte equivalent every 30 mins using a syringe.  She had a peaceful nights sleep but was incontinent of faeces so it was back to the vet yesterday morning and the decision was made.

She was pts in my arms in our home being told as she slipped away just how much she was loved and cherished.  Louis is lost without her and we all keep 'checking' on her snoozing spots only to be reminded that she is no longer with us.  For a little dog she has left a gaping hole in our hearts and our lives.  Thank you Tracy and Chelsea for letting us have the privilege of caring for this little piece of heavenly cocker in our lives - she was a credit to you.

Sweet dreams Alice  :luv:
